This somewhat resembles the set of a bad science fiction movie, but it's actually a lava flow on the Big Island (probably in the Kilauea vicinity) that went through a forest. Second pic is a close-up.
I discovered the pictures above while looking for something else. And while looking for that, I also discovered a different site with remarkable, remarkable, pictures. So below, without current explanation, is one of those pictures. Next week I'll explain, including the problem related to the picture(s).

Wow! That photo sure puts the K in karst.
That is unimaginably rugged.
Isn't there a similar landscape near Sisters, OR. where the cedar trees are growing up the "gas grill" lava?
Tsingy forest in Madagascar?
Good eye! (But that's not the problem; I just liked this picture.)
I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't know anything about this location.
t would appear so - thanks for the name.
Kilauea is the place where those warrior footprints can be seen in the former lava flow, I think.
maybe this is what I'm thinking of...
That is a cool place. I never knew it existed. Thx!
