Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
There are two news items in The Washington Post, which seems to pride itself in journalism more to the taking of the Pravda that existed prior to the fall of the Soviet Union--maybe they're reminiscing, but that's another rant, of import this morning. Both of them were printed in an almost, oh, what the heck, absolutely gleeful attempt to besmirch the accomplishments of this Administration.
The first story deals with the fact that the two thousandth combat death occurred in the war. The second noted the passage of the new Constitution in that country, drying indicating the Sunni population nearly defeated the proposal in the plebiscite.
The war news is reported with the bias not toward the necessity of accomplishing a mission, but rather the pain that it is causing at home. The plebiscite story is along the slant of "well it cannot possibly work because some oppose it.
And from this comes a microcosm of all that is liberal.
It is truly a sad issue that 2,000 people have given their lives in service to their country in Iraq, these are valuable human beings who had bright futures, but who chose a calling higher than themselves and committed everything they had--quite literally--to that belief. The Post does an extreme disservice by focusing not on that, but on the pain their deaths have caused loved ones.
What a truly selfish proposition on the part of the paper, and media as a whole. These people know their loved ones have passed, but to focus on their pain, rather than reassure them the cause--the advancement of freedom and representative democracy, particularly to an area that had known neither--their sons and daughters subscribed to was noble and worthy of the highest praise.
Nope, cannot have that. To accomplish that would be to give credence to the Bush Administration. Their blind hatred toward the man and everything he stands for is truly the defining point in the American political discourse. What is interesting, is even if Mr. Bush told the Nation right now that he was evacuating Iraq, media would be critical of that as well. It would be at this point it would be considered a noble enterprise.
Thus they are caught in a trap, a confine of their own making. They cannot see outside their prism because the total internal reflection of their hatred and their biases prevent it.
But to place it solely as hatred toward President Bush misses the point. There's more, far more. It has to do with liberalism itself. The liberalism not of Thomas Jefferson or the Democrats of old, but the selfish, condenscending form that has taken control of the left today.
It is only a selfish person that would focus solely on pain and suffering without paying attention to the great accomplishments that have taken place. Only selfish people turn inward to feelings rather than assess with reason and humility the occurrences taking place around them. Only selfish people would callously invoke others as proxies in the fight for their beliefs.
Only selfish people would focus on death rather than the building of new hope for others that are living.
Thus we turn to the second story. The Washington Post could not have avoided reporting on the success of the Iraqi plebiscite in establishing the organic law of that nation, but they could bury it in the paper (which they did) and they could caption the news bullet with subtitles, which they did also. The subtitle told readers clearly that Sunnis nearly defeated the referendum.
So? What's the point? After all, they did not defeat the referendum. The paper, however, chose not to focus on the new dawn of representative democracy in Iraq, and the hope that will instill into people in that Nation that differences can be resolved by deliberate debate, and not precipitous gunfire. Media types did nothing to highlight the possibilities of progress, but chose to do all they could to point out the possibilities of doom, a death to the new Iraqi Republic.
This is a stunning proposition when you reflect on it. It means media outlets, by and large (some excepted, such as Fox), have taken the position that our enemy is more enlighted, and thus more worthy of supporting, than America.
Now, where have we seen that before? Think back, way back--because it is way back now. Vietnam.
The children of the sixties, content with self-indulgement, have come to adulthood, and are now well enconsed in our media. With them comes the views of peace, harmony, and love. But one must be careful--it is not a view of peace, harmony, and love toward others; no, it is a view of peace, harmony, and love FROM others to ones own self. It's the kumbaya, don't mess with my carma, let me be view of the world.
But once one sits in one's own world and chooses not to look out, one dies. One has to die because the view of what to live for is no longer there. Trapped in the total internal reflection of that prism, it is not possible to see hope and praise for the future, because everything is now, and if it is not now then it doesn't exist because it cannot exist. The carma and kumbayah notion cannot be satisfied, and the self-indulgence suffers, resulting in pain. And pain it is that the liberal suffers because he cannot see any other way being trapped in his own suffering reality.
But if the view of the world is that of pain, then everyone must come to understand that view, that there is no happiness. Thus media outlets report not on the hope that is Iraq this morning, not on the gallantry of our soldiers committing to a high and noble calling of freedom and justice for all regardless of where you live in the world, but on death and dispair.
Liberalism, the faction of death.
