Well, I like you better than Certain_Doom (post 3).
This was tough at first, because I got so few views and responses. But once I started posting in General/chat, things got better. At first, I was expecting thousands of views and hundreds of responses, but I'm now more realistic. I think I might slowly be building a following.
That's an excellent cartoon. Who knew that Dr. Demento was so limber?
Please add me to your ping list.
You're doing better than I. I'm good with crafts, not artwork.
The framed pic of Ronnie is a good touch!
And in frame 3 I like the rendition of the elephant, and the overall feel of the picture.
Can you add me to the ping list?
I've been suffering from a really bad case of Dumb Blonde Syndrom today.
That's a mean thing to say.
Okay, you're both added.
You, too.
Hey, better late than never.
And don't worry about what he said there; I've gotten it before.
Yeah, the last frame turned out to be one of my favorite drawings I've made so far. Adding the touches of Reagan, the American flag as a bedroom wall decoration, and shading it dark, gave it the right feel.
Funny, originally it was just an elephant sleeping.
Just curious how you post these. Do you scan the drawings, and then host them on some website?
I'd like to tinker with some cartooning, too, but don't know how to get the doodles from paper to FreeRepublic.
Here's a detailed step-by-step:
I start by drawing them.
Then I scan them, and save them into my "My Pictures" folder (not a necessity...anywhere you want to save it is fine).
Then I go into Microsoft Paint, click on the "Select" button in the upper right-hand corner. I then right click, choose "Paste from," and select one of the pictures, and hit "Open."
Then I doctor the picture, erasing smudges, adding panels, etc.
Then I close it, and when I save it, I replace the old scanned version of the pic with the new doctored version.
I repeat this until I've done all the pictures in the strip.
Then I go to "Photobucket.com" (I recommend this place over anywhere else, including Tinypic), and I upload all the pics into my photo album.
I then copy the URLs for each pic, and paste them all into Microsoft word.
Then I head on over to FR, go into General/chat, his post, and highlight the collection of URLs. Then I copy and paste them all into the "body" section. Add titles, comments, etc. Hit preview to make sure it worked right.
Then hit post, and there you go.
You did nothing to provoke that kind of comment. Some Freepers I just don't get sometimes.
Thank you very, very much! I'm going to have to start some sketching and see how it goes. You've inspired me.
Is Photobucket free?
Totally free.

Heyyyy!
I just saw your toon with the relaxed elephant getting some shut-eye ... GREEEEAAAATTTT! I especially LOVE that cute little touch of the "night caps" on the tusks!!!!! Wonderful.
This is the first time I've gone in to see your old toons.
Couldn't find them before this! Dumb-de-dumb-dumb-DUMMMMB
(me, that is).
