New Smith & Wesson
Smith and Wesson Website | Texasproud

Posted on 11/03/2005 1:53:40 PM PST by TEXASPROUD

Smith and Wesson have done it again. After reintroducing the Model 21, an N-frame, fixed sight, slim barrel, big bore revolver, they must have had decent sales. Just introduced this week is the new Model 22, a 4" N-frame, fixed sight, slim barrel in .45 ACP. Just wanted to let you know it is out there. No there is no Gold Thunder Ranch on it, the Thunder Ranch insignia is on the grips.

S&W just reintroduced the M21? I just took a brief look and couldn't find it on their website.

I see that S&W still make Dirty Harry's Model 29 Combat Magnum in .44 mag, but they don't make my Model 19 Combat Magnum in .357 mag anymore.

Does this Model 22 require half moon clips for the .45acp ammunition? I never quite grasped the whole 'rimless cartridge in a revolver' thing.

Damn, that's sweet. But I agree with the reviewer's criticism of the round-butt design.

Yes, it will use moon clips of auto rim ammo (a pain to find). I have a 1917, several Model 25's and a 625. The full moonclip is a fantastic way to reload a revolver fast.

There's a video clip floating around the net of Jerry Miculek shooting 6, reloading and shooting 6 more in 2.99 seconds.

Yes...and right when I was feeling so rone-ry!

Seeing the photo made me all cuddly inside, though. I'm a sucker for Fine Art.

(of course, it could still use a bayonet....but then again, so can everything)

Nope, you can't see the fourth screw. It should be visible from the angle of the frame and trigger guard. You could put in the upper as a cosmetic item, the fourth is much more problematic with atleast three extra parts and possible mods to the cylinder latch.
