Owens discusses McNabb, his own future in Philly

In an exclusive interview with ESPN.com contributor Graham Bensinger, the outspoken wide receiver also said injuries to Donovan McNabb have slowed the Eagles (4-3) this season.

"If Donovan wasn't hurt our record would probably be better," Owens said Thursday night.

ESPN analyst Michael Irvin recently said the Eagles would be undefeated if Favre were the starting quarterback.

Asked for his thoughts on Irvin's comment, Owens said: "That's a good assessment, I would agree with that, just with what [Favre] brings to the table.

"A number of commentators will say he's a warrior, he's played with injuries. I feel like him being knowledgeable about the quarterback position, I feel like we'd probably be in a better situation."

Owens returned to practice Thursday after suffering a sprained ankle in the loss to Denver on Sunday. He's listed as questionable for Philadelphia's game, but told ESPN.com, "I would say I'm closer to playing than not."

McNabb has been bothered by injuries all season. He's been hampered by a sports hernia since Week 1, and also has a bruised chest and shin. McNabb missed his second straight practice Thursday with a rib injury and was downgraded to questionable.

Owens also hard harsh things to say about the Eagles for not publicly recognizing his 100th career touchdown catch Oct. 23 at home against the Chargers.

"That right there just shows you the type of class and integrity that they claim not to be," said Owens, who became the sixth receiver in NFL history to reach the milestone. "They claim to be first class and the best organization. It's an embarrassment. It just shows a lack of class they have. My publicist talked to the head PR guy, and they made an excuse they didn't recognize that was coming up.

Even with Favre you gotta be able to run the ball...I think the Pack has proved that this year :( . TO isn't helping his team one bit here, but that was never his point.

And anyone, anyone who cares what Owens has to say, needs to desperately get a life. Talk about a waste of air and space. This guy is the poster child of the ME, ME, ME, generation. It's star leader. When I see his face on any sports show, I change immediately to the Weather Channel. There is plenty of hot wind on that channel better than Owens' crap.

Green Bay has zero offensive line -- makes it incredibly difficult for them to establish a running game.

Neither does Philly and they still are on their starting RB. The poor Pack are on their 3rd on the depth chart.

Agreed, at best 13 carries a game by Eagles RBs is not going to cut it in the NFL.

Tough Odor thinks its all about him.

He can write a book with Keyshawn.

Sports hernia info:

The pain from a sports hernia usually begins slowly. There are different theories about how this hernia occurs. One possibility is that tight or strong hip flexor muscles tilt the pelvis forward and stretch the lower abdominal wall muscles, eventually leading to small tears in the muscles and tissues.

Activities that require a lot of bending over and leaning forward can lead to this problem. Athletes who play soccer, ice hockey, rugby, field hockey, tennis, or run track are most likely to get a sports hernia.

What are the symptoms?
Symptoms include:
lower abdominal pain
groin pain
pain just on one side
pain that is usually worse with sudden movements such as sprinting, kicking, side-stepping, sneezing, or coughing.

I was watching when it first came on, when I heard his mouth, click, click, I was gone. He is a buffoon. Period. A rich, loud mouth, wouldn't have crap if he was not a jock. Cannot do anything without his face being on TV. When his days are done, the sooner the better we don't have to look or listen, to T.O.

FWIW, Brian Westbrook, always known for being the ultimate team player is also very down on the Eagles right now as well. In fact, his contract negotiations have validated a lot of Terrell Owens' charges.

In any event, without Owens the Eagles would certainly be winless.

Pain that is usually worse with sudden movements such as sprinting, kicking, side-stepping, sneezing, or coughing, or being hit by unblocked, qb-seeking, defensive backs like, say, Dallas's Roy Williams.

Even with Favre you gotta be able to run the ball

Reid is employing a variant of Bill Walsh's west coast offense. Walsh believed, successfully, that the short passing game was in fact an extension of the running game and would yield the same results - safeties would creep up, more men in the box, etc. Walsh's system showed that the short passing game can open up seems in the secondary the same way that the running game does.

Walsh, however, did run the ball as well. For some reason, the Eagles refuse to. Continually passing does tire out a defense though so it might be part of their game plan - I have noticed that defenses tend to fade against the Eagles in the second half.

It is a strange way to win though. Good teams should have feature a running attack that can control a game.

TO isn't helping his team one bit here, but that was never his point.

You're right - TO wants out. To his credit, he is playing very well this year and even in a sullen state is still probably the best receiver in the game. Currently he is 3rd in catches and yards (very close to 1st in both categories) and second in Touchdowns. (Steve Smith is leading in most categories and is having an outstanding year).

Owens also accounts for 30% of the Eagles total offensive production. The Eagles aren't in great shape right now, but Owens is more than doing his part.

To me it seems silly for the Eagles to keep him. Every time he complains to the media, his trade value goes down. They could have easily traded him last off season and moved on. The Eagles are right as he is under contract, but they have a team to run and can't afford to cut off their nose to spite their face.

If this team doesn't get its act together, and its players in line, we are going to be without Westbrook and T.O. (personally? no loss to me) next season. Now that they've (apparently) offered Westbrook exactly what he was asking for - he said no. Ooops.
