Heavenly Father, we return to thank You for the fellowship of our FReeper family ... for the ones we talk with daily, to occasionally, to those we only see in passing, but a beloved family, nevertheless. We knit our hearts this night for Carlo and pray that Your healing hand would rest mightily upon him. Grant the greatest wisdom and skill to his medical team, that they would be instruments of Your healing. Bring him through surgery safely and quickly, O God, to a full recovery, that he soon might share with us the good news that all is well. In the Name of Jesus, may it be thus, O Lord, may it be thus, Amen ...

May God hold you close now and guide those who care for you. May He comfort you and give you peace and strength, in Jesus' name.

Carolyn

P.S. I understand how you feel. I had lung cancer in 1998 and they said I had less than a year to live. Thanks to God, good doctors and a special diet, I'm still here. However, my latest scan shows two spots in the right lung now. I go for a bronchoscopy Wed. 11/30. Even the possibility of more cancer is devastating, as I don't know if I have the strength to go through it again.

4) Spoon mixture into buttered 10 inch cake tin. Cover tightly and bake in preheated 250° F oven for 3 - 4 hours.

***************

What do you use to cover the cake tin? I love good fruitcake, I must confess.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Prayers for you as well.

Was your grandmother Italian? You could try this one and see if they taste like you remember.

Wine Cookies (Original Italian)
Submitted by: M. A.
"This Italian Wine Cookie recipe was handed down through many generations. Thay are a crisp, not-too-sweet, EASY TO MAKE cookie that are great with coffee or tea." Original recipe yield: 2 -3 dozen.

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup granulated sugar for decoration

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder and sugar. Add the wine and oil. Mix with a large fork and then with your hands.
Roll small pieces of dough between hands to make "logs" then shape into circles. The circles should be no bigger than the 2 inches in diameter. Roll cookies in extra sugar and place on cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes or until slightly brown. After cookies cool they should be hard and crisp.

Prayers up, CD!

Remember David picked up 5 stones when he ran to meet Goliath? (Goliath had 4 brothers!)

Thank you for the encouragement. I think about Paul saying somewhere in the New Testament that if he lived, he would live for Christ, and if he died, then he would be with Christ, so it didn't really matter to him which way things went.

I'm sorry, my post was not meant to admonish, but to encourage.

I really do wish the best for you! I've been reading your comments at FR for years. If I've not said it before, let me tell you now how much I appreciate your pro-family stance.

That's OK. I've been telling myself the same thing, and it helps to hear it from someone else also. :^)
