Only three qbs in a year for the Rams. We hadn't had a qb start more than three consecutive games until Hutchinson played in five last year.
Stewart had been a pro bowl qb while with the Steelers and the Bears were desperate. There was no one else available and stupidity was not the issue just hoping against hope that he would have another Pro Bowl year.
No team can go through qbs like the Bears and be successful. One had a complete season in a decade. Even having a bad qb stay healthy would have been an improvement including Stewart. That is how bad it has been.
Stewart had been to the pro bowl because he got the press. He was exciting to watch, good in trick plays, good on his feet, problem is he was a lousy QB. He should have been satisified to be a WR and only QB on trick plays like Randal El, lining up in the spot all the time he made too many bad decisions and too many stupid passes. Desperate isn't a good enough reason to give Stewart one more chance, he already got way to amny chances in Pitt. The only time I was ever calling for Cowher's head was when it looked like the only way we'd get rid of Stewart was to get rid of Cowher too. Stupidity was the issue, a quick glance at Stewart's numbers show that you've got a better chance of winning the lottery than Stewart having a proper pro bowl year (I don't think he deserved to go when he did go).
I'm not saying the Bears should have been successful, I'm saying they shouldn't have been a flipping joke, which is what they were the last couple of seasons.
