ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- The Oakland Raiders fired coach Norv Turner on Tuesday following consecutive losing seasons in which the team managed only one victory in its division.
The 53-year-old Turner, who had a year remaining on his contract worth about $1.75 million, had known his job was in jeopardy for the last two months after struggling to get the most out of star receiver Randy Moss and an offense that also included quarterback Kerry Collins, receiver Jerry Porter and running back LaMont Jordan.

Very true, the Raiders have not adapted well to the world of free agency and a salary cap. They are very much stuck on a "win now" panic mode and that is no way to build a winner.
You are so right!
That goal-line series against the Giants ought to put the brakes on that as well. Nothing like reinforcing failure with the slowest QB in football :-)
They oughtta fire Al Davis.
I can't say I didnt see this coming, because Norv was a dead man walking after the Miami loss. I wouldn't mind Al (that's Mr. Davis to you) hiring Pat Hill but considering that we've never hired a coach from the college ranks (and that Fresno State has a real habit of losing games they should win) I have my doubts.
This is just one Raider fan's opinion. GO RAIDERS!
He'll be hired by the Lions.......
One can only hope ;-) (sorry, but we on the west side of the Lake have to have our illusions for the next 24 years).
I just feel for the next guy who has to work for Al Davis.
I couldn't believe they gave him #12.
