Steelers had to beat the darn refs, too.
1. I really like Coach Dungy and did want to see him win
2. Rush will ramble on about two segments about it.
Jerome Bettis = most relieved man on the planet today..
>>>2. Rush will ramble on about two segments about it.<<<
By the time Rush gets back next week, it will be old news.
Indy starting to get a reputation for choking.
Hats off to PITT. Good Team. Great Coach. Great Quarterback.
That Pats have a much better case for beating the refs. Like literally
That defense pass interference call was the absolute worst I have seen in a while
It was karma that the Colts missed that last FG. A bit of poetic justice.
I watched the game from CBS. Those commentators were totally biased for the Colts. They are supposed to be showing the game for ALL the fans. Those CBS fools can't even present a football game correctly. Eventually I just turned off the annoying idiots and listened to music instead.
His best play was saving a touchdown when The Bus coughed up the ball.
I know what you mean, but the NFL won't do that. They will just lose control if all the refs start coming under that much scrutiny.
Rather than being corrupt or on the take or something (which I don't think they are), it is just human nature. Refs always seem to get influenced by the crowd. They just can't help it. Their calls for the home team get huge cheers that rock the stadium, and the calls for the visiting team receive profanity and boos.
The refs like positive reinforcement.
I think that will be seen as THE play of the game....Roethlisbergers tackle. Go Big Ben!
And I only needed them to cover the point spread.
I wonder if Ben could have tackled Harper, had Harper's wife not stabbed him in the leg less than 24 hours earlier!
I think Pitt out coached the Colts & outplayed them. For the 1st 3 quarters the Colts really did not know what Pitt was giving them on the defensive side.
Had the refs made the correct calls the score would have been 24 to 10 Pittsburgh's favor. For those who did not see the game it really was NOT as close as the score shows. BUT the Steelers did all most blow it.
The football gods gave it to the right team!!!
"Steelers had to beat the darn refs, too."
That "incomplete pass" call was just so completely WRONG!!
And the "color commentators" that cbs had on were just so completely biased towards the Colts that it was sickening! Thank goodness that cbs was true to form, i.e. they never get anything right!
As of this point this weekend, I'm 100% on my picks. Let's see if da Bears (still Suck!) can keep my record intact.
I was right about the Colts not going undefeated or winning the super bowl...but i wish i was wrong
Testify. That lousy officiating wasn't fair to EITHER side.
"It was karma that the Colts missed that last FG."
In Baltimore we call that the "Irsay Curse"
The Colts have been cursed ever since they left Baltimore on the Mayflower in the dead of night.
I laugh in their face at every loss!
At least the Ravens have won a Super Bowl!
I wonder how Jerome will do in Denver? Will his asthma be a problem??
If it is, the Bus might lose his endorsement.
Sort of the way the Browns did?
Did you see Vanderdrunk shank that FG attempt at the end? Clearly, the Colts were tanking the game so they'd have the chance to choose LenDale White in the April draft. ;PP
Nah, the absolute worst was the "tuck rule". What team benefitted from that travesty? Oh, yeah....
The know-it-all sports guys are already dissing us!
They went right from talking about how the Colts would beat the Steelers to how the Broncos will.
I'm looking forward to it.
Denver, as a franchise, is 6-1 in AFC Championship games, 4-0 at home.
Pittsburgh, under Bill Cowher, is 1-4 in AFC Championship games, all at home.
Shanahan vs. Cowher in AFC Championship games, Shanahan is 1-0.
mostly referring to his asthma. Match-up for match-up ... the Steelers have an excellent opportunity.
Well at least Peyton Manning will have plenty of rest for the Pro Bowl.
Harper's wife for MVP!
It sure was!
Things really started to unravel for the Pats after that loser of a call. Too bad the refs have to inject themselves into the game like that, especially when they affect the outcome so much.
If anything, on that play, the offensive receiver had his hands all over Samuels!
what about the "stop the game"play but no one was penalized--I always thought that play could NOT be stopped without reason(some infraction which brought a penalty?) By the By, could all the cheating by refs have anything to do with the Steelers being a 10 point underdog?---does holding the Colt loss to 3 points help the gamblers and mafia types? --of course, I have always believed all pro (and some amatuer sports are 'crooked as snakes'--too much money involved)
Get honest people to be refs----there might just be a couple out there somewhere--(or are they all Rats?)
Let's see how well the Steelers play at Invesco Field, though.
At least Baltimore originally tried to play by the rules, but when Tagliaboob told us to "build a museum", they then went in to plan B - and that is to "take what you can, when you can". That's the sorry state of the NFL today. You can thank Irsay and Al Davis for that.
Al least Baltimore had the decency to give Cleveland back the name, colors and uniform unlike other cities.
THE NON- CALL AGAINST THE FALSE START BY FANECA ALSO HAD CONSEQUENCES. THE STEELERS WOULD HAVE BEEN FACING A 4 AND 6 AND WOULD'VE HAD TO PUNT. INSTEAD THE NON CALL ENABLED THE BUS TO CONVERT THE 4TH DOWN AND ALLOWED THE STEELERS TO TAKE LOTS OF TIME OFF THE CLOCK. WHO KNOWS, MAYBE PEYTON DOES'T THROW THAT PICK TO TROY HAD HE HAD MORE TIME--- HAD FANECA GOT PENALIZED FORCE HIS FALSE START. UNFORTUNATELY, DUNGY'S STOICISM ISN'T PARTICULARLY HELPFUL IN BIG GAMES. COWHER THREW A TANTRUM ...EVEN THOUGH HE KNEW FANECA MOVED. COWHER MADE IT SEEM LIKE THE COLTS JUMPED AND HE WAS GETTING JOBBED. IT WOULD'VE BEEN HELPFUL IF DUNGY SAID," THEY WAS A FOUL ON THE PLAY, FANECA MOVED, THE STEELERS NEED TO SEND OUT THEIR DAMN PUNT TEAM." INSTEAD, DUNGY JUST SILENTLY OPED ON THE SIDELINE.
actually if you read the rulke they called it right. It was called an interception on the field and overturned by replay. The rule states, "for it to be a catch when going to the ground you must retain possesion all the way through the catch." Im paraphrasing but he didnt maintain possession all the way though the catch after going to the ground. Tampa got screwed last week with a similar call, Its the right call by the letter of rules.
You know something? Reffing a game is a hell of a lot harder than it looks. After I did it I never criticized a ref again.
As a ref, you really want to do a good job. You don't take sides, you just want to do the right thing. The bad calls you make haunt you, as does the second guessing.
They officials did their best in this game. Since I'm not professional caliber, I won't criticize those that are.
Denver has the whole thing, go get'um Snake.
In the words of the immortal Myron Cope, "Beat them bronco's their just yonko's.? Steelers by 14 in a cake walk. Plumper gets flushed down the drain............
I am sure it is. I know most of them do a good job. They are the arbitrars of "justice" on the field of play, and that makes them the object of wrath by players, fans, and coaches sometimes.

Not sure if we are talking about the same play. I watched the post-game news, and everyone said they botched the play where an interception by Pittsburg was rulled null, even though 100% of the commentators agreed it was an interception.
This is just a little of what has been said in the newspapers about this today. If you do a search, there are dozens of stories about it. I don't think it is settled at all, and had the Steelers lost, it would have been an incredible controversy:
It doesnt matter what commentators that dont know the rules say. All they need to do is open the official Rule Book and read the little note underwhat defines a catch.
If you want to know what the rule is watch NFL Network channel 212 on directtv on wendsday. The head officiating will be on like he always after ever week to explain calls, this call was explained lastweek. Tampa bay Non-called TD by Chris Simms same thing
The only thing that could have made it better would have been if Indy had been 16-0 coming into the game. It's not that I don't like Peyton or the Edge or anything, but it still fires me up to see those horseshoes on a helmet.
