One of my favorite Papa Bear stories regards officials. During one Bears game the official called a plenty on them and Halas started screaming curses and insults at the referee ending with "You stink." The official picked up the ball after calling unsportsmanlike conduct on the Coach, marched off the fifteen yards and proceded to ask Halas "Do I smell better from here?"

I have never heard so much whining and crying from sports fans as I have heard from Sea-squawks fans concerning the refereeing. They LOST, get over it.

That will fuel the conspiracies but the bias comes from the league offices. Do you think the Steelers would have been a little more than upset if Nick Harper had run that last minute fumble recovery back for a touchdown for the Colts two weeks ago AFTER the refs blew the interception by Polamolu? Even though they won the freaking game Joey Porter was screaming profanities about it.

Lets just face the facts, the NFL already knows who they want to win the playoff games and they do what they can to help that along. Nobody, anywhere, at any time, in any corner of the world except Seattle, wanted the Seahawks to win. And the refs just help make sure that it didn't accidentally go the wrong way. (DISCLAIMER: I am not a Seahawks fan by any stretch of the imagination and I do not hate the Steelers. I have no dog in this fight but it was impossible not to notice the obvious)

What's funny is that the whining Seattle fans don't dispute the receiver pushed off the defender, they whine that it wasn't that hard a push. Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!

"I think he is referring to the TD that Seattle made that was called back due to an offensive interference call. "

Oh, OK. That one, I did think was questionable, for sure. It didn't really look like a pushoff to me, and it was nowhere near where the play actually ended up.

I think they were talking about Seattle's TD that was overturned due to a penalty in the first quarter, not the one that Big Ben made for Pitt in the second.

I still do not know why they did not go for 2 when they got their touchdown.

Ben got that touchdown, barely, but he got it.

I believe you are thinking of a different call, though I do agree that virtually all criticism of the officiating is by those that aren't well versed in football and certainly not in the rules. Obviously, the officiating wasn't perfect (when is it ever?), but it had no bearing on the outcome of the game.

Nobody, anywhere, at any time, in any corner of the world except Seattle, wanted the Seahawks to win.

You know, even if you buy into the goofy "conspiracy in the NFL" theory, its generally predicated on the idea that the league wants certain big-market teams to win in the playoffs, so that they can get better ratings in the next game.

Who exactly are the Steelers playing next week?

The cash registers at all of the sporting goods stores across the nation. Steelers merchandise is like 2nd in the NFL in total sales.

Don't impute biased officiating. NFL officials are professionals who deserve huge benefit of the doubt.

And after this year (especially the playoffs) there are LOTS of doubts... about their abilities to call a decent game.
