I'm sure she didn't enjoy the histrionics and Bush-bashing. However, Laura generally has a similar look at funerals -- I can't account for her thoughts, but in the funeral photos I've seen of her, she has looked marked with empathy for those who remain and suffer the loss. Having buried her own father, I am sure she relates to the survivors. This is the same type of expression I've seen of her at other funerals -- a somberness and a crinkling of her features.

There is nothing fake about them. You can see that George W. and Laura really love, respect and admire one another.
They're just very comfortable with each other and it shows in this picture. It's a few years old, but it's one of my favorites.
