Coach Holmgren Apologizes to Tagliabue (Steeler/Seahawk Alert)
Free Republic ^ | 2/09/06 | self

Dear Mr. Tagliabue,

I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to you and the league for my intemperate remarks at our ceremony at Qwest Field concerning the officiating during the Superbowl.

On Monday, just one short day after “losing” (oops) the game, I was still burned about the outcome, and I had consumed about a pound of bad jumbo shrimp for lunch, my stomach was churning, and it was just a bad day all around. I came home from Detroit, our cat was missing from the house, the Governor’s dog was hit by a car, and she was blaming me for that. Just real bad all around, Paul.

Paul, I was still stinging from calls that went against our team. It seemed like the bad calls were stacking up as high as the Space Needle.

I’ve always been known as a good and decent man in the community. Well, perhaps except for the time I borrowed my neighbor’s Rototiller to do that work on the Church rose garden .................. heck I didn’t see that rock ............. like I didn’t see that sneaky Steeler trick play coming. My neighbor told me he wouldn’t be using that Rototiller for a good long time, I thought he’d never noticed it was broken. Wosrt thing I ever did, Paul......... until now.

I feel as badly about my comment to the fans, “ "I didn't know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well”, as I did about giving my neighbor back his mangled Rototiller. Come to think about it, that Rototiller was as busted as our defense on that Willie Parker blast right through our defense.

In closing, you must know that I’m still crushed about the loss and my words, but if you and the league are going to fine me for my perverse and untoward words, I ask you to please take into consideration that at least I didn’t refer to the officials as zebras. That should count for something.......................... and, Paul, am I off the competition committee?

Regards,

Mike Holmgren

Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Available on the album [Green and] Blue Moves

What have I got to do to make you love me
What have I got to do to make you care
What do I do when lightning strikes me
And I wake to find that you're not there

What do I do to make you want me
What have I got to do to be heard
What do I say when it's all over
And sorry seems to be the hardest word

It's sad, so sad
It's a sad, sad situation
And it's getting more and more absurd
It's sad, so sad
Why can't we talk it over
Oh it seems to me
That sorry seems to be the hardest word

What do I do to make you love me
What have I got to do to be heard
What do I do when lightning strikes me
What have I got to do
What have I got to do
When sorry seems to be the hardest word

You are exhibit A of a nasty, arrogant, condescending Steeler fan.

There's not a single thread on the Super Bowl up today, so you figured you'd put up a smarmy, juvenile, incendiary post so you could gloat some more.

Get a life, will ya!

Not as high as the Space Needle..just 173 yards and 17 points worth...

ROFL

Man, where is your sense of humor?

Haven't you ever borrowed a tool or something with a plug and either not returned it or broken it?

;-)

It's just supposed to be funny.

You really must have taken Seattle and the points, eh?

Please take me off your list. I'm sick of the poor behavior of Steeler fans.

Calm down dude, it was supposed to be just funny. I have always respected coach Holmgren. I liked him going back to his days with Green Bay.

Now you ........ that is a different story. Get to the pharmacy.

By the way, I am sorry that I included that line about the governor's dog. That was certainly not at all needed. I do feel very bad (worse than you may believe) whenever that kind of thing happens to an animal or pet. But there is no way to remove the line.

Take it easy and settle down.

hehe.

It's just a game. I don't know why some people are so upset about it, barring the loss of bets.

Is there any chance to add an "l" to the name in the title, to read, "Tagliabue"?

Thank you, if possible.

I hear you.

Coach Holmgren is a solid and good man. It is just a game. He and his fine team will be right there in the hunt next year.
