Bruce Willis has jumped to the defense of controversial author James Frey, declaring he was unfairly attacked on Oprah Winfrey's TV show last month. Frey has been criticized for embellishing parts of his best-selling book, A Million Little Pieces, which was originally billed as a memoir. The Die Hard star says on TV show Access Hollywood, "Look at what happened to James Frey in the last two weeks. That's a great book and so is the follow-up book. And just because his publisher chose to say that these were memoirs, it took it out of being a great work of fiction... to this guy having to go be sucker punched on Oprah by one of the most powerful women in television, just to grind her own axe about it. Hey, Oprah. You had President (Bill Clinton) on your show and if this prick didn't lie about a couple of things, I'm going to set myself on fire right now. James Frey is a writer, OK? He can write about whatever he wants. It's fiction. It's just shameful how he was treated in some of these things."

I'm torn on this one. While we all know that BJ Clinton lies like a rug - it doesn't forgive this guy for writing a Non-Fiction Book/Memoir/AutoBiography that was fictionalized.
If he wanted to write a fictional account of his life - then say... "based on a true story"...
To write a memoir/autobio that isn't factual ... well, makes me think of Bill Clinton again.
Oh... and Oprah is just like the rest of the HollyWeirds. If it fits her purpose - she'll say it. If it doesn't - she'll dust it under the rug.
I agree about the guy having been a jerk for totally lying, however, any excuse for bashing Clinton is okay by me.

And I read "A Million Little Pieces," and it spoke to me...and while I was reading it, I knew there were embellishments, but so what?
There's a lot of crap that addicts go through. James Frey hit on them all.

Oprah is a jerk. She'll browbeat this relative non-celebrity while she always goes soft on her friends, the real hollywood celebrities. Why didn't question Jamie Foxx for his support of Tookie Williams? This critter kills 4 people and Foxx wants no punishment for him.

In the same interview junket, Bruce also said:
"I'm sick of answering this [expletive] question," he says. "I'm a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government, I want less government intrusion. I want them to stop [expletive] on my money and your money and tax dollars that we give 50 percent of... every year. I want them to be fiscally responsible and I want these [expletive] lobbyists out of Washington. Do that and I'll say I'm a Republican... I hate the government, OK? I'm a-political. Write that down. I'm not a Republican."
