Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
While this folding@home team is not officially sanctioned by Free Republic, it's 250+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 204th place, having reached more than 2,000,000 points!
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)
That one's been dead for a while, and already renamed. It was the wife's Laptop upstairs :)
Never mind. Looks like you fixed that a long time ago :-(
Even if you uninstall, it doesn't get rid of the directory, and the previous work unit, and config files. After you uninstall, completely zot the folding@home directory, and then start from scratch. This should get you past any corrupted files, or cores, and get you a completely different workunit. If it still hangs, then you probably have other issues, that we can deal with
If you're running windows XP, you might want to make sure, that there isn't a rogue copy of Winfah.exe or another core running. Do a ctrl-alt-delete, go to task manager, processes, check the box, (from all users), and look to see if any instances of those programs are running. If there are, zap them.
I'll have a 3rd CPU showing up tonight, and finishing another WU tomorrow afternoon. I'm hoping to make it to 100th place in the team eventually!
It seems we'll end up with more points in February than all points combined before 2/1/06

Our growth has certainly stalled. Those DU-ers will be catching up to us any day now, as soon as they've quintupled their productivity.
Did everyone wave and salute, as we passed "junkteam14042" in the 3pm update?
Yeah, and it was a "short" month too.
Right now, we're averaging 45,000 a day, pretty much, which will put us right around 3.3 million, at the end of March, assuming we don't increase our daily point percentage any.
I'd love to see us, at 4million, the end of march, and right up around the 150th place, right behind team
TITS--->(.Y.)<---TITS
We should get a sizeable increase when your 25 stray CPUs kick in :)
I'd rather be just in front of them, than behind them.
{rolls eyes} :-)
Reminds me of one of those movie stunts where someone jumps from car to car.
Ummmm, I mean, strictly from a team standing point of view.
Ya, that sounds good, that's really what I meant....
What kind of a team would call themselves, TITS? Don't answer, just rhetorical.
It's a very, very very good thing you added that, because I would have you know.
Alas, you just know it's a bunch of guys on team, not anything like what we would really want them to be {SIGH}
irenh needs to find those last couple of systems and get them switched over. They are still producing a couple of WUs per day.
Hey, Tex
Do you know if anyone has developed a good FR skin for the EM-III (Electron Microscope 3) fah monitor?
I finally got it to work and I think it's configured correctly - (took me all day,lol) - but I'd sure like to have our FR as the team name & an FR logo to put on it.
Thanks for any info.
RT
Ok... Running on 4 computers... Left the one at work running...
