The pirate DVD version of Brokeback Mountain made it to Turkey before the offical screenings had a chance to, and evidently the title theyve gone with translates in Turkish to Faggot Cowboys. Reader Odradek shares with us this scan from local paper Radikal and comments This hopeless and disgusting name shows my cultures primal face. Its really bad.

It actually disturbs me to no end that the liberal agenda and homosexual agenda (same thing) are so intent on pushing this trash into the Oscars that they simply do not care how this makes us look in the rest of the world that is not liberal trash. Just more evidence that the liberals' sensitivity about offending people exists only as long as it doesn't get in the way of their agenda.

Too funny! Last year I met a Turkish officer and his lovely wife. I tried to dazzle them with my limited knowledge of Turkey and its history, Kemal Ataturk, etc. Then I asked them if they had ever seen "Lawrence of Arabia". The Turkish couple went nuclear. His wife shrieked "That movie is nothing but Arab propaganda!" The captain shouted, "We are not a bunch of queers!!"
Not much market share for "Fudgepack Mountain" in Turkey. It's that other movie that demonizes Americans in Iraq; now that's scary.

I laughed the other day when Rush said "they all get it in the end in that movie".
