This sort of thing has happened from time to time through the earth’s history and most recently in the early 1990’s when the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991 cooled global temperatures in 1992 by around half a degree.

Interesting. The Global Warming Mongers tell us that a half-degree rise in global temperatures will spell doom for the planet, yet a half-degree decrease in '92 resulted in.....well, nothing that I can think of.

That's because it was short-term and not a long-term cooling trend. And the cooling from Pinatubo actually did affect the growing season in the Northern Hemisphere, causing a decrease in the amplitude of the seasonal atmospheric CO2 variation.
