There are some US Senators that still like Castro. LOL

The article I posted says it was probably not true as Castro was just a so-so pitcher.

I know it'll take the island a while to recover from the mess he's created but I wonder if Havana would one day be home to MLB franchise?

That would be very cool.

I've heard that Cubans follow MLB very closely.

I think they'd be able to draw a bigger crowd there than in many other American cities.

After watching our former 2004 Olympian Brian Viloria (now WBA champ in his class) box some Mexican in Las Vegas 2 weekends ago, there will be plenty of Mexican flags in the crowd, and I guarantee that the US baseball team will be booed on its home field. Viloria is from Waipahu, Hawaii - the wrong side of the tracks on Oahu, and had a lot of fans there. But I would say 70% of the crowd was cheering for the Mexican boxer, who lost to Viloria.

On a similar note, when the Polish National soccer team played the Mexican soccer team in Tucson several years ago, a Polish friend of mine at the match left the match early with his wife and children because he didn't like the way things were going, i.e. if the Poles won, some Mexicans were going to start something.

Yeah, I missed the Viloria v. Aguirre fight, but I heard the "Hawaiian Punch" looked good in a UD. ....record now up to 19 - 0.

And I'm certainly not surprised at the sentiments of the crowd in Vegas. The worst incident of this particular kind happened in the late 90s when the Mexican and U.S. national soccer teams played a match at the L.A. Coliesum. The U.S. national anthem was roundly/loudly booed (attendance was close to 100,000 ....probably 3/4 of whom were rooting for Mexico), and "urine bombs" rained down on the U.S. players and those in attendance who had the guts to openly root for the American - home? - team.

A Korean play dislocated a sholder the other day sliding into 1st. But I don't think any MLB players have been injured. Yet...

sliding into first?

Did the 1st baseman land on him ala Derek Jeter a couple years ago (which just started the injuries on my team that year)......
