Well if you're right that would make the Missouri Valley Converence 3-1. Billy Packer will be choking on his words all the way back to ACC country.

And - you never know -- Bradley has the ability to knock off Kansas too!!

(14)Northwestern St. 64, (3)Iowa 63

Unreal! Northwestern St. outscored Iowa 25-9 in the last 7:50 and won with a 3-pointer at the end.

Actually, it was 54-37 with 8:29 to play. So, the Hawkeyes were outscored 27-9 in that stretch.

Jermaine Wallace's 3-pointer with a half-second to go will live a long time in March Madness tournament lore.

(Listening to the post-game news conference now... somebody ought to give the Hawkeyes a box of Kleenex.)

I guess Alford can now start packing his bags for Bloomington. Oh wait, Indiana still has a head coach, because they won last night.

I don't think Memphis is going to make the Final Four. gonzaga or ucla will be there. Villanova isn't going to make it either.

I think the Gonzaga v. UCLA winner has the best shot of winning it all. Gonzaga might have the edge, because he is fearless and unstopable. Gonzaga has started playing a bit of a 1-4 offense with Morrison on top. In this setup, he can work his way into the middle or pass to the wing, go down the middle and curl to the corner where he can shot the three or dump it inside like they did at the end of Thursday's game.

Morrison is the best player in the country and gonzaga has been picking up on the defensive end lately. Would love to see the Zags hire Dick Bennett as a defensive consultant next year. Would really help, especially if they can maintain the same offensive game.

This quote from an SI.com writer pretty much sums up Gonzaga's chances, IMO.

"Gonzaga (No. 3 seed, Oakland): With all due respect to Adam Morrison, the 'Zags would only be my national title pick if the Final Four was being played at the Kennel, with WCC refs, and the opponent was Loyola Marymount or San Francisco."

I just don't see it happening. It's a two man show, basically.

UConn is trailing Albany by 10 with 13:00 left in the second half. UConn is not that good, but I still expect them to win today.

Look at what Arizona did to a defensive minded Wisconson team. Tore 'em a new one.

The Gonzaga defense, while not great, is not that bad. Batista is nursing a bruised quas and sprained knee this weekend. On top of that, Erroll Knight is a great one-on-one defender. If the Zag's need a stopper at the end of the game, they've got one. Also have some subs that are excellent sefensive players, so situational subs at the end of the game favor the Zags.

Remember, the Zags lost to UConn in Maui by one the day after a 3-OT win against Michigan State the night before, and Errol Knight and Heytfelt were injured. Those two were out and Raivio injured his back early in the Washington game. Ravio was not nearly at full speed for the Memphis loss, at Memphis, just after Christmas break.

The WCC is much better than most people think.

George Mason WINS!!!

GMU - 75
MSU - 65

Yes, Mason girls are still cuties.

George Mason tore it up like a construction crew on Braddock Rd. The Patriots owned the court like a Fairfax County cop at a DWI trial. Mason ate it up like a college kid at the Tastee 29 Diner. (If you have to ask, you never lived in Fairfax).

Big ole SALUTE to the George Mason Patriots.

George Mason says "Way to go Patriots!"

Round two will be the UNC-Chapel Hill Tarheels. And boy do I have a story to tell you about that. Stay tuned...

So's that moron Digger Phelps. He picked Kent over Pitt as his upset of the day. Pitt was in total control the whole time, won by 15, and it really wasn't that close.

I swear, Phelps has it in for Pitt. He never fails to dis them every chance he gets.

If Dickie Vitale and Billy Packer were such synchophants for those two teams, they might not be so disliked. Duke's lack of quickness is going to be their downfall.

A potential Gonzaga v. UCLA game may be the best of the tourny.
