'Love child', mother lambaste Big Unit (Randy Johnson refuses to acknowlegde his daughter)
MSNBC ^ | 3/29/2006 | NBCsports.com

Posted on 03/29/2006 12:48:46 PM PST by Proud_USA_Republican

The 16-year-old "love child" of New York Yankees pitcher Randy Johnson said her star father coldly responded to letters she sent to him and that she cannot bear to watch him pitch on TV anymore, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

"I would get cards back from him with just his signature — 'Randy,' " said Heather Renee Roszell, who sent the letters in an effort to meet Johnson.

Johnson broke off his relationship with the girl's mother, Laura Roszell, 46, while she was pregnant, and he has seen Heather only once, shortly after she was born. He does have "reasonable visitation rights" from a custody agreement, Roszell told the Post.

Heather, who lives with her mother in Langley, Wash., told the Post that she stopped writing letters because "I never got [more of] a response, so it got to the point where I didn't want to deal with not getting the response.

"I don't have a relationship with him."

Johnson is suing Laurel Roszell for $97,000 for child-care payments he made for Heather, according to court documents revealed by the New York Daily News and New York Post on Tuesday.

I know what a dick this guy is from his pitching days here in Seattle. The guy is worth over 20 million dollars, still makes millions each year pitching, and he's suing the mother of his daughter to get 97,000 back from her in child-support payments? I think his daughter is better off not having anything to do with this mullet sporting moron.

I want to keep it private," Johnson told the Post.

He doesn't seem to be using the right approach. What a major league jack ass

actually, he's suing to stop the additional 750 a month (on top of 5k a month) for day care expenses that he's been paying, and to get back the payments for the last few years (plus interest), as she hasn't been in day care for awhile.

Course, it's almost time for her to go to college, and no mention was made of those arrangements, so we'll see this mess back in the news in a couple of years.

According to the documents, Johnson first agreed in 1997 to pay Roszell $5,000 per month in child support for Heather, and another $750 in monthly day care expenses, the Daily News said.

Johnson then demanded that Laurel return $71,000 in day-care payments and $26,000 in interest because the teen was too old to be in day care, according to legal papers.

"My daughter is 16 and has not been in day care for at least five years," Johnson said in a Feb. 3 affidavit. "[Roszell] should not receive a windfall for expenses she did not incur."

What a creep! He makes millions and he money back? He sure was there to make a kid wsn't he but then runs from his own child. I hope he doesn't have any more kids. What a great role model lots of the sports figures are! Should start an email campaign to the Yankees/him and get on him to do the right thing by this child. He helped make her he needs to be responsible altho guess he is not a father by any stretch. I hope this experience will teach him to keep his pants up! I'm going to email the Yankees!

I do acknowledge that I have a daughter from a previous relationship, which ended years before my marriage," Johnson, 42, said in a statement. "I have fully financially supported her and have made every effort to protect her privacy."

Johnson thinking, "I wish she would have been aborted!"

What a Major-League Jerk!
The money in question is chump change for ths pro athlete.

I'd say the ex-wife's made out very well. And I can almost guarantee she didn't entirely use the $5,750 PER MONTH as "child support" and "day care."

Johnson may be a jerk, but he's ALREADY paid this woman a bloomin' fortune for the privilege of knowing her.

That's what this is all about. Aside from the fact that he ignores the daughter, he's still mad at the mother for dumping him.

Perhaps this woman tricked RJ into this pregnancy. Swore up and down she was using birth control but really schemed to get pregnant. She seems a bit older than RJ.

$5000/month is not chump change. The child is now 16. He was a stupid, horny young man when he impregnated this woman. And she must have been a willing victim.

The woman is asking him to buy the girl a car and pay for her college tuition. He's pointing out that he's been sending her bonus money for years. Money that could have bought her a good, reliable car plus been put toward tuition. Of course, he has deep pockets so he should pay more . . .

$5000 a month in unreportable child support...that's not bad. Plus day care expenses. That's a sweet deal. Randy has been paying all along as well. Don't see how this makes Randy a bad guy....He has acknowledged his obligations, has been responsible to his child.

Never married. Story doesn't really say whether or not it was a fling or something longer.

But, he does seem to say that he's done being worked over for cash by the woman. And, $60K a year in child support is a pretty tidy sum.

He hasn't paid her a bloomin fortune for knowing her. He is paying to help a girl abandoned by her father (only because he is forced to apparently). If the mother does not see to it that the money is used that way, then she is a jerk too.

Please cool the drama. We don't know if the kid was "abandoned" by Johnson.

Quite possible the breakup had little to do with the kid. That happens.

In any event, I wouldn't call $5,750 in child support per month for 16 years "abandonment."

Must be something more to the story here. He makes what? Over $10M a year? I doubt he even handles any of his money - probably has accountants and lawyers to do that. $97K is not even a week's pay for him.

The funniest film clip I've seen on the internet is when Randy Johnson was pitching during a game, and he hit a pigeon/dove/bird and it exploded over the field. I know that's probably awful of me. Hubby and the kids and I have watched that and laughed every time.

I'd definitely agree with you on that.

I admit for the average person like myself it seems as though the girl's mom is getting a rather large amount of money (for the record I'm a woman). However she's been the only parent that young woman has ever known. And that big jerk certainly makes enough to be able to afford those payments.

Uh, if he doesn't sue to get the $97K returned, any lawyer that could fog a mirror would sue for future support, etc., based upon the "implied" intention to support beyond the age of majority.

I would consider refusing to see your biological daughter, ever!, a case of "abandonment", even if he paid some child support.

Returning her a card without any writting, just but signed with "Randy", like in some third person. What a total jerk. Be a man. Not some 14 year old boy.
