Misdemeanor charges filed against former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper were dismissed today for lack of evidence, Hennepin County District Judge Kevin Burke ruled.
Co-defendant and former Viking Moe Williams had his motion for dismissal denied. Burke set an April 18 trial date for Williams.
Burke said that he believed the testimony from a hearing two weeks ago when Culpepper and his friend Larry Tucker said that they were playing dice on the boat last fall during the player party and had rejected offers for sexual favors from women on the private Lake Minnetonka boat cruise.
Burke declined to rule on an earlier contention by Culpepper's defense that the former Viking was prosecuted because he is black, calling that issue "moot" because he ruled on the strength of the evidence against the two.
