Opie and Anthony may replace Diamond Dave - CBS will hire shock jocks (Desecrated St Patricks)

NEW YORK - No surprise: David Lee Roth's run as morning radio host is about done. Big surprise: It appears raunchy satellite radio stars Opie and Anthony will replace him on seven CBS Radio stations.

Opie and Anthony were banished from terrestrial radio in 2002 — oddly enough by their new boss, CBS Radio — after airing a live account of listeners having sex in New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral.

A deal was in the works to dump the ex-Van Halen singer's ratings-deprived program with shock jocks Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, according to two people with knowledge of the deal. They spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement of the agreement next week.

What's he like as a radio host?

Judging from the clips I have heard, horrible. Alot of it has to do with CBS failing to give him any kind of support. They should have teamed him up with an experienced DJ at least temporarily to get him up to speed. Roth is just another vivid illustration of the problems with CBS as a whole.

The FCC is currently accepting bids and architectural drawing for their new building to be built with fines on CBS and Opie & Anthony.

I'm glad you brought up that connection. Since the incident, Sam Adams has revamped its packaging, its marketing, and its advertising and has gone from strength to strength.

Every time I see Jim Koch in those commercials I think of that outrage committed in St. Patrick's. It appears Jim Koch has been given a pass.

He free associates like you wouldn't believe. He's intelligent, funny, talkative and naturally inquisitive about everything.
Those who say he is boring were either brought up on Stern or have a short attention span.
For me it is all about the music and DLR has a wealth of knowledge about ALL kinds of music. I find THAT entertainment enough in the morning. I don't need fart jokes.

The one incident that got O&A kicked off of Boston radio was when they reported that Mayor Menino was killed in a car accident.
His family was not amused. This was before the Cathedral incident.

They will stay on XM, will promote the XM show on CBS, and the CBS show will basically be a cleaned up, censored, FCC safe version of the XM show.

I only could stand to listen to Roth's show a couple of times. It's completely vapid and humorless. The guy has nothing meaningful or entertaining to say. He's in his own world telling his own "private" jokes. I'm sure Roth's a kick at dinner parties but on the morning drive, not happenin'.

Definitely not going to listen to O & A. Their stunt in St. Pat's offended me more than Howard Stern ever did.

Does this mean that O & A will no longer be on XM?

I sure hope so.

O & A were on with Hannity a while back. While they are filthy trash, they are also hysterical. CBS is probably bringing them back because they generate ad revenue like mad.

In all fairness to SeeBS, there really is no one else that could generate revenue like these two clowns.

This is also why I don't drink sam adams any more. They sponsored the event which led to the offense.

DLR is BORING because all he does is disect music and talk about his one year on the streets as an EMT. Y'know what, most of us find that not to be entertaining...evidenced by his crappy ratings.

I gave him a chance, but he is not moring radio, i.e., energetic. He is analytical over crap that most people could care less about.

Yes it's true. Opie & Anthony (w/ Lil Jimmy Norton) are rude, crude, and offensive. They are also the most creative and funny guys you could listen to on a daily basis.

Religious zealots and Stern-Zombies need not apply.

Remember O&A always win in the end. To Stern: Good Luck Bro.... Image hosting by Photobucket

Don't know if you caught it or not, but their interview with G. Gordon Liddy was actually very entertaining. They showed the G-man much respect, and G-man showed his lighter side. It made for good radio.

Last I checked, there was this wonderful feature installed on Radios that allow people to pick the station they want to listen to. If you dont like something , you can change he station using this technology....

This happenned as part of a promotion for Sam Adam's beer with the president of said firm in gleeful attendance.

If Opie and Anthony have to pay, so does Sam Adam's beer which sponsored this act.

and talk about his one year on the streets as an EMT.

In all the time I've listened to his show, I've never heard him mention his EMT stint once.
Just lucky I guess.

He is analytical over crap that most people could care less about.

I must be 'most people'. I know I could care less about him.
