I am usually up by 3:30 or 4:00. Put me down for either one of those times.

This prayer thread is much needed. It will accomplish far more than just posting and complaining.

Thanks so much,

Maria

"It was all going really well until I got hacked off and kicked the moneychangers out of His temple. That was the point where the powerful people set aside their petty differences in order to remove me from the picture.

The Apostles were shocked to see that the 'Other Cheek' had it's limits of tolerance...sometimes one has to kick serious butt when confronted with blasphemy too outrageous to be ignored."

- not being presumptuous, just seeing the allegory while Congress is trying to sell this lipsticked pig called amnesty.

I am in the 5-5:30pm slot and I will pray randomly throughout the day, this is a very important issue and I feel prayer is our answer, the president and the senate are not listening, GOD help us.

God of our hope, our life, our country,

We acknowledge Your reign.

For the freedom of our land
For the rights we possess,
For the security of our laws,
We praise You and thank You.

Give guidance to our leaders
Watch over those
Who serve their country,
Raise up the poor,
And exalt the humble.

Make our nation great and strong,
Renowned in wisdom,
Prosperous in virtue,
And renewed in faith.

Destroy all signs of division:
Take away hatred and violence;
Fill us with Your peace.
Make us one people,
United in praising You,
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

(not original to me, but a good prayer!)

Amen to that.

Another prayer:

God of truth and light,
in your sight nations rise and fall,
and pass through times of peril.
Now when our land is troubled,
be near to strenthen and save.
May leaders be led by your wisdom;
may they search your will and see it clearly.
Forgive us for the ways we have turned from your way,
open our eyes to our wrongs and help us to reverse our ways and repent.
Give us your light and your truth to guide us;
especially be with our leaders as they struggle with the immigration issue,
and may your will be done.
We ask your protection, guidance and healing,
this day and always,
through Jesus Christ,
our Lord and our Savior. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the democracy alive in our country and for the freedom to worship You. Help the elected government and all in positions of power and authority to govern wisely and for the common good of all.

At this time when the country feels ripped apart from the inside and the threat from outside seems so strong, be with those who are working to protect us, and guide the hands of those with the authority to make decisions.

In the name of Jesus we ask this, O Father God, Amen.

I pledge whatever hour is left and offer a mass.

America is the world's last hope... if she goes down, there shall never be another like her.

God bless our leaders and cover them with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.

I will, as time allows it, post links to threads with news on the immigration issue and scriptures and other things that might be of interest to us keeping this vigil and to encourage others who are just watching.

And, while I'm at it, if anyone else wants to post things like this, please do!

For thou, O Lord,
art good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee.

Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer;
hearken to my cry of supplication.
In the day of my trouble I call on thee,
for thou dost answer me.
There is none like thee among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like thine.
All the nations thou hast made
shall come and bow down before thee, O Lord,
and shall glorify thy name.
For thou art great and doest wondrous things,
thou alone art God.

Psalm 86: 5-10 RSV

..always keeping in mind that these prayers are not against people

but against an unseen enemy who seeks to destroy the republic and all that is good about it.

Pray for strength to stand on Godly principle, not in an attitude of haughtiness nor pride.

Pray for protection of the nation and the brave watchmen who stand on the wall and say, "..nothing will hurt you tonight--not on my watch..."

exactly!

We are asking God to be the decider!

We are asking for God's hand to lead our leaders in his way.

We are asking his protection and mercy, and to open the eyes of those who do wrong, so they may come to know him.

And, if he wills it, to let our nation be the light on the hill that our forefathers dreamed that it would be.

And he told them a parable, to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor regarded man; and there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, `Vindicate me against my adversary.'

"For a while he refused; but afterward he said to himself, `Though I neither fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will vindicate her, or she will wear me out by her continual coming.'"

And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God vindicate his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will vindicate them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on earth?"
