Vanity: Need .44 Revolver links
Self ^ | 6/5/06 | Robert Teesdale

Hey - a quick vanity question here. A friend is looking for recommendations on a carry pistol while biking up in the Colorado mountains. I am recommending a shrouded hammer, short-barrelled .44 for him. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding a shrouded hammer, short barrelled 44. Anyone have a suggestion?

I've shot an 8" .44 S&W Model 29 in the California desert. I kid you not, the muzzle blast would make the pickup truck move.

One of the things on my mind is that if I ever need to discharge a firearm in a home defense situation, I probably would have to kiss my hearing goodbye.

The only negative is 10MM round is not on every gun store shelf.

BS on them blowing up. They are getting universally fine reviews. I wish I could afford one right now.

Good to know thanks. I can't afford one right now either as I bought a Glock instead.

Simply unbelievable how loud that thing was.

Yeah, even through earplugs and earphones!

Bought one for my brother in Arizona, he carries it when he goes out on search and rescue. Plenty of gun just kicks like a mule and awful damn loud when shooting Corbons.

That is true eric, so do what I do.

Order your ammo a case at a time from www.ammoman.com

I dont have a 10mm(always wanted one), but I did get 45acp ball from them, and a friend just bought a case of 308 match ammo from the company for his new DPMS Arms 308 M-4 style rifle.

I went the .40 route with my Glock. I was a little apprehensive about the popularity of the round but its become almost as common as .38 Sp. I have a 6 inch blue Python I got in 1970. Its in 95 percent condition. I have pretty much retired it in favor of the semi auto.

If you can live with factory loads, then the Glock is probably the most reliable handgun one can carry.

I have a 17 and a 26, and have pretty much standardized on the 9mm for daily carry.

I bought a 9 MM Glock, then sold it when the .40 became available. Imagine my disappointment when the new pistol jammed while tossing brass on the first box of ammo.
A smith a Bill's Gun Shop in St. Paul tuned this beast and lightened the trigger. It almost feels like a custom gun now...

Well, I stock up on the stufff every chance I get.

I love the 10mm, it carries a whollop, and is very manageable. I think it is the perfect self-defense round.

Like the .41 Magnum, it has not exactly become an orphan, but is becoming rare.
