So cool. Perhaps the Italians will beat the Czechs, we'll beat and tie Ghana and italy. Then Knockout round!

The Germans are now singing "O wie ist das schön, o wie ist das schön, sowas hat man lange nicht gesehen, so schön, so schön!" (Oh, how nice is that, oh how nice is that, noone has seen that for long time, so nice, so nice!)

I seem to rememer a certain team who had the habit of limping through the group stages, then gradually build momentum, and before you knew it they were in the finals :-)

I thought I understood the offsides rule-if the attacking team brings the ball across midfield, they cant be offsides. Thats how I thought it was. It appears to be different..

This match is unusually lopsided: Ghana should have 4, at least. The Czechs seem gassed - the whole game, almost.

With the Red card and all their injuries, that old side came down to Earth in a hurry...

No more scoreboard watching: the US has to control its own destiny, now.

Great game. I think only the Ivory Coast/Argentina game compares.

I wonder now if the US will change their plan against Italy, knowing a tie will keep them alive?

It IS different. The last field player of the defending team must be on the same height of the field as the player of the attacking team who gets the pass from his teammate. There´s an imaginary line - if the attacker is beyond that line, a possible goal won´t count and the defending team gets the ball.

You need to play on "win". Hoping for a tie means a loss in the end.

What a game. Count out the African teams at your own peril. The guy kept saying saying no one called it for Ghana. My first thought-"Well someone on FR did!"

One of the Ghana players kept waving an Israeli flag. What was that all about?

Very interesting result though.
