Maybe the snake was just tryin' to get churched up :~)
Good morning everyone!
By our reaction , I don't think this congregation would do well as one of those churches that uses snakes, even though there was a lot of screaming and shouting:")
Thunderstorms last night and it's going to rain all day. Good for the seed I put down. We loaded in another 170 bales of hay. Total in barn of 410. That should last us awhile. With 5 horses here, we go through a bale a day.
I left my newsletter at home but will get it at lunch time and get back to you.
I have only ridden and camped at Capital Forrest once, it's too bad it's closed in winter because it would be good riding it seems. It's a little flat for my liking but the trails seemed nice and it's always good to be out in the woods.
I wonder what trails you rode out of if you think it's flat? Do you remember the trailhead name? Perhaps our little foothills are just not enough for someone who rides the Olympics, but also perhaps you went on one of the easier trails... There's enough climb in the forest for me and my ole horse :~)
It's low and damp in some places, and though they've done a lot of work on drainage and footing, if it were open all year the trails would be churned into nothing but suck mud and not good for anyone.
As you know riding in timber country, there's a combination of mature trees and clearcut areas, and the best places for showing the shape of the land is in the open areas, so here's these.
Pictures hardly ever show slope well, but in these first two, you can see the trail below or behind and get a feel for the amount of climb/descent. These are on a trail called the "Green Line #6"
So I don't know how that compares, but it seems to me when we're riding we're usually either climbing or descending, even if gradually or on switchbacks, it's hardly ever really ~flat~ for very long.
Have you ever thought about feeding rolled hay? To me it's just SO much easier than having to load that many bales out of the field and onto a trailer and then having to unload them and stack them in the barn. I can never get any help, so it's just my husband and I, and although we're not that old, we're both not in the best shape to be doing that kind of physical labor anymore. At least with the rolls, I've got the tractor to do the heavy lifting for me.
Can't you borrow a flatbed trailer from somebody?! I just can't imagine trying to manhandle a roll of hay, much less 10 of them, out of an enclosed trailer. Do you have a hay spear for your tractor?
Yeah, I saw that, but you're not really ruffling too many feathers, just having a pointed discussion, with lots of interesting points of view on all sides.
If you have a farmer neighbor ask him/her to help you move the bales. What you pay them will be well worth it. Used to be five dollars a roll a few years back. If you store it outside make sure to set an old wooden pallet under each bale then cover them with a plastic tarp.
Good evening...
Just checking in...I've been on the couch all day...again....Nothing serious, just annoying...muscle knotting up in my back....and upset stomach from taking stuff for my back.
Really and truly, I'm not a hypochondriac:), I've been down more this summer then in the last 10 years put together, just my time in the barrel I guess...
Anyway, I'd say there were alot of good climbs where we rode...I was surprised by them. For some reason i wasn't expecting that at all.
Becky
I don't think you're a hypochondriac... you just have a knot in your back today! Sorry about that... :~\ Poo.
I'm taking a break between areas of mowing in the lawn. Been weeks since I mowed, though it's green as can be still. Cold temps at night now and the lawn's gone dormant.
Maybe because I take most of my pictures in the trees where it's prettier. There may be hills behind, ahead and all around, but you can't see very far. :~)
I'm taking my break now. Just got home from work and had a bowl of cereal. I've done good today but I really want a diet coke right now. A six pack would be even better.
Good evening... how about a nice big lemonade or something?
I was just thinking about that. I'm going to finish this water first and then may run down to the store.
