Quickest way to get to Erie PA from westbound I-80

I am traveling to Erie PA in the near future. I will be coming from eastern PA, westbound on Interstate 80.

As I see it, I have two options: - stay on I-80 westbound until I reach I-79, then north on i-79 to Erie - exit I-80 near Clarion, drive northwest on US 322, then pick up I-79 at Meadville (essentially, I am driving the hypotenuse of a right triangle)

The second option is shorter distancewise. However, is it likely to be shorter timewise as well? Will I run into lots of traffic lights? Thanks for any advice.

It depends somewhat on what you're driving. In a car, the 322 route wouldn't be too bad, but if you are in a large vehicle, ie. Motor home, pulling a camper Tractor Trailer, etc., stay on the Interstate.
