Contrary to recent reports, Engadget says that Apple's rumored "iPhone" may appear as early as August.
A reader is reporting to us that a coworker's tech-unsavvy friend, who is regularly hired by Apple to do marketing photo shoots, was recently brought on to take some shots of "the sleekest, sexiest damn phone he's ever seen."
It has been well-established that Apple has been working on an Apple-branded phone for some time, however the release date has been difficult to pinpoint. Recently, various patents (1, 2) have been uncovered regarding Apple's cell phone technology and Peter Oppenheimer made comments during Apple's Q3 2006 conference call virtually acknowledging Apple's work on the product, stating "We're not sitting around doing nothing" with regard to cell phones.
Apple iphone in August rumor !
Someone just lost their job, and any future work as a freelancer.
Then again, it would not be inconceivable for Apple to set up a leak like this. Because the alleged iPhone won't compete directly with any current Apple products, except maybe some iPod market share, having the info leaked may be a way of getting people to hold off buying a new phone so they can get an iPhone.
Hmmm, perhaps a cell phone incorporating iTunes, iVideo, and a VOIP (why else call it iPhone?) connection all wrapped in a sleek package that many FReepers will say that only gays use........
Don't worry it's only a matter of time before that dush ends up on this thread to say how much apple sucks.
My feelings exactly - no pro photog is gonna risk losing THIS gig - leak, no doubt...

I was going to make a joke about the phone only having 5 buttons but I was afraid I would get lynched. ;)
ID supporters are one thing, but I don't think I could take on the Apple supporters ;)
Eh, if Apple wants to keep it small and convenient, I don't see how they can put in the scroll wheel, unless the whole face is both a video screen and a touch screen.
Apple has done miracles with new technology in the past, but I don't see them coming up with the first touch screen that actually works right.
And toted around in man bag with an Apple logo
See - Apple lovers take everything too seriously ;)
According to one rumor, Apple is working on FTIR technology for touchscreens.
Those things are so cool.
