Madonna Invites Pope To See Her Crucified On Stage
Star News ^ | August 4, 2006

MadonnaMadonna has invited Pope Benedict XVI to be the guest of honor at her Rome, Italy, Confessions concert on Sunday, which features the mock crucifixion of the singer. Religious leaders in Italy and The Vatican have united to publicly denounce the singer's controversial stage act, in which she is 'crucified' on a diamante-studded cross, while wearing a crown of thorns.

Ersilio Cardinal Tonino, speaking on behalf of The Pope, said yesterday, "This concert is a blasphemous challenge to the faith and a profanation of the cross. She should be ex-communicated. To crucify herself during the concert in the city of Popes and martyrs is an act of open hostility."

Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg tells the New York Daily News, "I think the Pope would enjoy the show and would applaud her performance. He has an open invitation to see for himself the eloquence and beauty that Madonna expresses for humanity while performing her poignant song 'Live To Tell.'"

I think her behavior is a combination of a willingness to do anything for attention mixed with a healthy modicum of guilt. I contend she could keep several psychiatrists employed full-time.

When all she really needs is a holy confessor.

It has always baffled me why anyone would pay attention to this mediocre, irrelevent, non-entity.

I have never seen her appeal.

Madonna is one of those subjects for which I would like to employ DU language standards. That is the only way to give full expression to my thoughts on this succubus.

A flurry of Wikipedia this morning. I have who he is. The answer is unfortunately, no relation to the flying fellow. (laughs).

Yeah, she has all the courage of the owners of Comedy Central. What I've always found kind of strange about Madonna is that she's not really any more depraved than 75% of the acts out there, but she gets a lot of press for having a pretty worn out act. Of course, I'm still surprised that the Stones, Paul McCartney and the Beach Boys still sell out wherever they go.

I enjoy listening to a lot of old music, but the Beach Boys, getting off dialysis to sing about surfing with Betty Lou at the beach is vaguely pathetic.

Excellent point.

Actually, I was going to add that, but to obtain the spiritual results necessary would require sincerity on Madonna's behalf. I don't know if she wants or cares to cleanse her soul?

Great to hear from you as well.

I guess when you have twenty people serving your every "need", real or merely anticipated, you never have to grow up. No doubt her career won't suffer from her antics, but life on this earth is but an eye blink when compared to eternity. I hope she takes a serious, sincere, introspective look at herself and recognizes what is really important in life.

God bless,

What`s even more suprising is they sell out without putting any new songs in thier act, absolutely no new hits..The Beach Boys I can understand as Brian Wilson went nuts and fired his brain out with drugs, but the Stones and McCartney are ridiculous and everyone kisses their butts. They do new songs, but they all suck beyond belief.

The Stones haven`t written one good album since Tattoo you, Paul McCartney now is nothing more than a shell of his former self, he really hasn`t written a song on par with his Beatle days since the `70`s. Since then it`s been one pathetic album after another with those guys.

Call me crazy, but I really think the reason was John Lennon why they were good in the first place. Whether he helped Paul or inspired him, inspired the Stones, I just find it very strange whenever Lennon was around these other guys put out great stuff.

Paul McCartney put out some decent stuff until about 1975 when Lennon retired, then McCartney just became the worst. "Silly love songs" and all that la di da crap. When Lennon came out of retirement in 1979 and put out that album Double Fantasy in 1980, McCartney suddenly came out with a good song "Coming up" which was his last hit. Tattoo you by the Stones was also 1980 and that was the last great album by them as well.

I mean you have to figure, Paul McCartney in his Beatle days wrote all those fantastic Beatle songs in a matter of 8 years, from about 1962 to 1970...From about 1975 to now, which is 31 years he hasn`t written even one song that comes even close to something like Hey Jude, Let it be or Yesterday. What you get from that veggie idiot now is such classic crap such as "Ebony and Ivory" or "Biker like an icon" sheesh!

She's one sick puppy. There are no limits to her Catholic trashing – the safest way to make money and avoid major controversy. Let me know when she starts burning her burqa as she dances naked over the Koran.

Wasn't Madonna part of this Kavalla (Sp?) organization?

I thought they taught peace and harmony among all people and faiths?

What happened to that?

...she dances naked over the Koran.

That could get interesting!

The church is right. She should be ex-communicated. However, she will probably spend a lot of money trying to get unex-communicated.

As for her giving a million dollars to the foriegn children. So be it; but I would imagine it's a big tax right off that she could not do here in the US. I really don't believe Madonna would do this if there wasn't a tax advantage somewhere as I understand some people now use foundations as tax dodges.

Well, FWIW, I ain't no Jewish leader but I think it's disgusting; reminds me of Sh1thead O'Connor when she cut up picture of the Pope on SNL. I hate to see any religion trashed. Although I might say, I have a higher threshold if you are ridiculing the so-called peacefullness of Islam.
