Media watchdogs are barking over an MTV cartoon that portrays a Snoop Dogg-like character leading two women around on leashes - before scooping up their poop.
The new MTV2 animated series "Where My Dogs At?" satirizes such Hollywood stars as Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. But industry pros are incensed over the portrayal of women and blacks in episode four. The half-hour episode, "Woofie Loves Snoop," debuted last month - and until it was removed yesterday, the offending clip was just a click away on MTV.com.
"Seinfeld"'s Jason Alexander voices Snoopathon Esquire III, who struts out of his Caddy with Parkay and Marjorie, two bikini-clad black women wearing dog collars and leashes. The rap star orders one to "hand me my latte" as she squats on all fours and scratches herself like a canine. At the end of the scene, Snoop dons a plastic glove and picks up his enslaved ladies' defecation.
"This only serves to reinforce negative images of women, conveying to kids on a Saturday afternoon that all women are bitches and hos," said Paul Porter, founder of IndustryEars.com, a watchdog group. "In my 10 years of monitoring children's programming, I've never seen anything this offensive." R.E.A.C. Hip-Hop Coalition, a media-justice group, is calling for MTV to ax the "misogynistic" episode.
MTV and Snoop did not return calls seeking comment. But in response to one e-mail sent last week by a parent who holds a high-ranking position at a major media company, MTV wrote: "The segment in question is in fact a parody of an appearance Snoop Dogg made where he was accompanied by two women wearing neck collars and chains . . . The goal was to take aim at that incident for its insensitivity and outrageousness."

Not defending the cartoon, but the activists are idiots. Who considers MTV "children's" programming other than bad parents. Nobody under 16-18 should be watching MTV. I haven't seen the cartoon, but it sounds like its mocking and parodying Hip Hop/Rap than furthering the degeneracy of that style of culture.

I'm gonna disagree with you there. There's a strange movement to make gangsters and pimps mainstream. "Snoop"- a man who likes to brag about beating his whores with a shoe if they haven't made enough money for him- is on chewing gum commercials played on the Discovery Channel for Christ's sake, portrayed as an slick angel.

And you want to blame MTV for that! MTV is what it is because there is more than enough people out there to view the crap content. Thus motivating companies to advertise on MTV. If you want Snoop and the culture he represents to disappear then spend your energy on convincing his follows through the Market Place of Ideas to change. Fighting for laws of censorship and other legal means will only entrench such peoples beliefs that they are right and become harden to change. I find the one activist that views MTV as "children's" programming appalling more so than the crap that is shown on MTV. Obviously that activist can't tell the difference between what is children's programming and what is not.

it's a very crooked line from the Buggles to this tripe.
and who took us here?
I blame Viacom ...yes, I know Sumner voted for Bush...yeah yeah.
But the fall of MTV is directly related to Viacom's rule

Child or adult viewer, do you want German scat porn to be aired on American cable?
This is a human bowel movement, regardless if they are "acting like dogs".

Just out of curiosity -- what do you think -- would the up-roar be greater if one or both of the leash-clad women were white? Blonde?
To: 9999lakes
I haven't seen it but my guess is that there is one woman from each of the identifiable "race" groups -- one white, one black, one hispanic and one asian.
That seems to be the way the media perverts approach this kind of thing.
