BANGKOK, Thailand - Thai police said Thursday that a 41-year-old American man has admitted to the killing a decade ago of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey in the United States.
Lt. Gen. Suwat Tumrongsiskul, head of Thailand's immigration police, told The Associated Press that John Mark Karr confessed to the killing after his arrest Wednesday at a downtown Bangkok apartment.
"He told police while under arrest that he did kill the girl but so far he has not pleaded guilty in writing. This is needed as official evidence," Suwat said.

CNN has a news conference on LIVE right now...
I'll wait for something from Fox.
I get the News Alerts from PMSNBC though. It being a slow night I thought I'd post it.
If he did it, I would like to know the reason for that ransom note. What was the purpose of that? That really never made much sense to me. Did he kidnap her, write and leave the note, then kill and return her to the basement, or did he try to make it look like a kidnapping gone wrong?
They think he is linked to another case in Santa Rosa CA (no dates given)
I confess to believing the parents did it. :(
Watching on MSNBC too.
The dude is real creepy and nerdy looking. (they showed him earlier and he is kinda a small guy, real thin, and looks like he has female breasts. (no kidding)
I'd say they have the right perp. Thank God they caught him!
Karr is claiming the killing Jon Benet was an accident.
Karr has been out of the USA for several years now and has not returned during those several years.
I was never really sure about that. I do think that they were *really, really* weird.
Kerr has been suspect for quite some time. (it sounds like they were having problems trying to locate him since he was not in the USA) - They suspected he was in Thailand for a few months and have been working with Thailand authorities for about 2 months.
Check out post #13.
Kerr told officials that he and JonBenet fell in love with each other .. that it was an accident
He may not have originally planned a murder and the note could have been some form of cover for his crime maybe.
He could have been crazy and needed no reasons.
I mean .. he says he killed her by accident
I can't wait to tell her this when I get home this morning.
In an incredible coincidence my wife was also peripherally involved as a witness in the Polly Klaas case. This is going to creep her out no end.
Yeah... he choked her a bit longer and hit her a bit harder than he meant to.
That's just sick, sick, SICK!
I didn't catch the beginning .. how did he first meet her?
I know some folks think it's evil to wish bad things like repeated homosexual gang rapes on convicted criminals. I'm not one of those people.
I hope this monster spends the rest of his hopefully short and miserable life being passed around like candy amongst the long term residents of the Colorado Penal System.
Just saw a replay of Scarborough with Marc Klaas saying he still suspectst the Ramseys.
Make sure you give your wife LOTS of hugs and make her feel "safe". This news WILL hit her far too close to home.
Sorry... didn't catch it either... hope you know I had my subliminal 'sarcasm' going with my last comment....
They found that girls body 75 yards from the front door of the house my wife was dog sitting in. She drove past the perps car on her way into the property.
She still cries about that. She thinks she may have been able to do something to help that poor child.
Suwat said Karr's visa has been revoked because he was regarded as an "undesirable person" since he is accused of a crime in the United States. He said he expected American officials to take Karr back to the United States in the next few days.
Suwat said Karr arrived in Bangkok on June 6 from Malaysia to look for a teaching job. It was not clear whether he had gotten a job, the police officer said.
Karr has been in Thailand four times over the past two years, police said.
I mean it........hug her a LOT and try to convince her that there really was NO WAY she could have done anything to help.
Yea .. I picked it up
Karr's ex-wife says he was fascinated with the JonBenet Ramsey case and the Polly Klaas case.
Just got home from work. Heard about this before going in. There's a presser on right now?

do you have the cached link?
You don't think that was his son?
One report said the suspect was identified after he started e-mailing a Colorado journalist who had covered the child's murder case. The e-mails displayed inside knowledge of the case, according to a report on the ABC News Web site.
Ramsey attorney Lin Wood said Wednesday the suspect was not recently discovered but had been known to authorities for a while. "This individual has been under investigation for an extended period of time," he told MSNBC.
Babykillers have a very, very short lifespan in prison. Shortly followed by babyrapers.
In love with a six year old? Sick, sick, sick......
I think this is the link to the post that mentioned myspeace
yes it is
I'm still trying to figure out how he knew her before she was murdered
How is it that a DNA match wasn't made back in 1997 or 1998? This pervert was a suspect back then. This sounds like a sloppy police investigation.

Looks down under the friends on the right.
John Mark Karr apparently in a distant picture in a wig and dress (IMO).
His profile page said John Mark Karr II, which implies the son. Although the creep is tiny, it looks a little too tiny to be the father.
She took the Klaas thing pretty hard obviously. She actually drove by the guys car. God, that gives me the willies. Then she was out on the property all night by herself watching a friends dogs.
She has never been back there and her friend sold the place shortly after. The sick f*** who killed that little girl did a lot more damage than some folks realize.
We've talked about it a lot and I think she realizes in her head that there was nothing she could have done. The poor child was already dead. But in her heart she's convinced that if she'd just called 911 something might have been done to save Polly.
So, I not only give Mrs. L lots of hugs, I'm not stingy about them with Lurker Jr or for that matter close friends and family. If I've learned anything in the last few years it's how quickly people you love can be taken from you.
There's one moment in my life I really, really regret not taking a close friend by the hand and telling him how much I loved him. I'll not make that mistake again.
You take care,
