Hyundai Needs To "Rethink Everything"
Hyundai Sonata TV Commercial ^ | 8/20/06 | Vanity

Let me go on record as saying I like Hyundai. For the record, I personally own a Sonata, and it's a great car.

That said, will someone from Hyundai's advertising department kindly explain what you were thinking when you authorized the latest commercial for the 2006 Sonata?

"Rethink Everything" involves the concept of the Hyundai Sonata turning the world upside down. You can access the commercial online with this URL: http://www.studiodaily.com/filmandvideo/projects/f/commercials/6702.html

The spot starts out innocuously enough: a rather cliche scene of a Sonata cruising along a city street. Quickly the spot kicks into high gear: An office located in a skyscraper is pitched into pandomonium, pedestrians and vehicles slide and collide uncontrollably in the streets. Suddenly, papers, furniture, and people (with arms flailing) begin to freefall from office buildings. Hmmmmm...now why does this scene look chillingly familiar?

"September 11th", you say? Well by golly, Johnson, I think you're onto something. How could Hyundai executives possibly sit through this commercial without thinking "911"? Perhaps Kim Jong Il spiked their kimchi - how else can you explain such a blatant lack of judgement?

I've got a new slogan: "Yo, Hyundai...Rethink THIS!".
