Homecoming king admits to rape, robbery
Newsday ^ | ALFONSO A. CASTILLO

Posted on 08/26/2006 12:36:07 PM PDT by MassRepublicanFlyersFan

Bay Shore High School's Class of 2006 homecoming king admitted in a Suffolk courtroom Friday to taking part in what prosecutors called one of the more horrifying crimes in recent history -- the beating, rape and robbery at gunpoint of a young couple on their first date.

Recalling talking with his co-defendants after driving away from the brutal crime, Douglas Payton, 18, said, "We started to laugh about it."

Payton pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree robbery for the Dec. 3 attack in Bay Shore. Newsday is not naming the couple because they were victims of sex crimes.

Looks like Julie Brown could update her song about the "homecoming queen..." and as torture it should be played 24/7 in his cell for the next 15 years.

"We started to laugh about it."

Death penalty is called for in this instance. Just my opinion.

One thinhg I frequently don't see in these stories is a description of how the perps got nabbed. DNA? Fingerprints? A stoolie?

Ought to put the pieces of excrement in the same cell with those brothers on death row in KS for a similar sex crime. Only that ended up with 5 people dead.

This couple will probably never recover from a trauma like this. 15 years doesn't do THEM justice.

No pictures of the victims obviously. Gee, I wonder if this was a "hate crime." Makes me want to vomit....

Not to worry, some liberal judge will release the guy in about a year; some liberal Governor will pardon him; he'll be admitted to Yale by virtue of some program designed to redirect the lives of young men of color that make a small mistake early in their lives; he'll be hired by a big law firm under their affirmative action program; and, he'll end up as a Congressman charged with ethical problems, but successfully protected by the Dimocrat power structure.

No, wait, that's Kweisi Mfume.

What do you mean when released? Two of them are not in jail. Out on bail.

"We all felt bad about what happened, but we hoped we didn't get caught," said Payton.

They felt bad about "what happened."

Some telling excerpts:

He said he and his co-defendants donned masks, and he grabbed duct tape he had in his car after having used it to help set up "Awareness Week" at school.

Who, besides a criminal with premeditated intent, drives around with masks in their car?

Payton used the tape to cover up his license plate, "because I knew something bad was going to happen, and I didn't want to get into trouble."

"We all felt bad about what happened, but we hoped we didn't get caught," said Payton.

Translation: We're gutless scumbags that are only sorry now that we've been caught.

first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree robbery for

Just a bunch of misunderstood yutes expressing their frustration on the way society holds them back from reaching their full potential in life.  It's all our fault.

So these were not poor homeless bums out on the street. They were supposedly productive high school students. The defense of "society made them do it" and "lack of programs/opportunities" for young people certainly doesn't apply. I'd like to know how the "community" will spin this one.

Any idea how old the victims are? At any age this must be a horrific trauma though. I liked the part where it said the victim's brother glared at the family of the scumbag. I would want to put some fear into them so they know when their precious son gets out of jail (which probably will be way too early) I would be there waiting to administer real justice.

"I would be waiting there to administer real justice"
Now I DO understand the origin of your wrath but think about it:
You go off on recently released convict.YOU get put in jail and possibly do more time than HE has done.
Plus perp sues you and ends up getting your house as"damages".
Not very logical,says Mr. Spock.

The person who committed this crime is a sociopath. He did not become a sociopath on the commission of this particularly heinous crime. He has been a sociopath for quite a well. The subtext to this story goes beyond the criminal. Were those who celebrated him by electing him Prom King blind to his character or were they validating his known anti-social tendencies with a public pronouncement? In his circles I am sure the disbelief is similar to the criminal's, it is not they do not believe that he did crime, they have trouble believing he got caught.

Yep, just like during the Clinton era, where there were no such things as war, terrorism, pollution, poverty, umemployment, hurricanes and crime.

IMO, if individuals knew ahead of time that they were going to get an equal reaction for every action they executed, society in general would become more gentle and kind.

I don't know if it's natural, or if they're coached by their lawyers, but it seems like every time one of these jerks gets caught for some horrific crime, they speak in the third person like they were just standing there and saw it. It wasn't "what happened." He did it.

Bet he's out in three years.

I got my first car, a 51 Plymouth Cranbrook, when I was 17.
Had a big SOB come up one night, tell me and my date to get out, and punch me through the window. I got out, with the war surplus Bolo knife I had strapped to the steering column. One thing sure, that boy could run!
You don't take anyone's daughter, anyplace, unless you are willing, and able, to protect her. The Bolo knife got replaced, with a model 1911, the very next day.

And what will be done with those offenders? The system will farm them out to one prison or another, but, eventually, they will be back in society to hurt others. When we get serious about the kind of world we want to live in, we will dispatch those dirtbags promptly, not after 30 years of appeals and taxpayer expense.
