Certain Republican members of Congress have played the childish game in recent years of referring to the opposition as the “Democrat Party,” hoping to imply that Democrats are not truly democratic. They succeed only in making themselves sound ignorant, and so will you if you imitate them. The name is “Democratic Party.”

You are a troll and you are wrong about this. Do people ask you to register as a "Democratic?" Of course not. They are democrats and the correct way to refer to the party is the democrat party. Just the way it is.

When was the name officially changed? It had always been the Democrat Party. I first noticed this Democratic change around 2002.

At our big local Festival I just went to, the local Democrats had their booth, with all of their little fliers and keychains and pamphlets and signs....
And absolutely NOWHERE on ANY of them was the word Democrat....or Democratic, either.
They wanted no recognition to the National Party with their candidates.

I think I have the proper usage:
al gore is a "democrat"
al frankin is a "democrat"
Taken together they are two democrats.
Taking the party as a whole, the proper term would be "capitulating isolationists".
