Punk the prez?

Moby's anti-Bush tricks

One of Sen. John Kerry's celebrity supporters is ready to pull out all the stops to get him elected. Republicans are shrieking over a suggestion by rocker Moby that Democrats spread gossip about President Bush on the Internet.

"No one's talking about how to keep the other side home on Election Day," Moby tells us. "It's a lot easier than you think and it doesn't cost that much. This election can be won by 200,000 votes."

Moby suggests that it's possible to seed doubt among Bush's far-right supporters on the Web.

"You target his natural constituencies," says the Grammy-nominated techno-wizard. "For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion.

"Then you go to an anti-immigration Web site chat room and ask, 'What's all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?'"

Moby didn't claim that he believed the abortion story.

I never check out DU, but the Bush haters are very active on the net on usenet and if they can get a dig in, on my photography forum which has readers worldwide. Some of the foreign participants, usually European, love to bash Bush, too, never encountered one yet who professes to like the guy. They ask things like how can anybody be so stupid as to vote for Bush?

I really got them cranked up when I said that if I had to do it over again, I would still vote for Bush, even though I have deep reservations about some of our policies. It's just that, to me, the other side act like lunatics, most of them have passed the bounds rationality. It seems to me that everybody was pretty much on the same page going into Iraq and it was only when the war started worsening that the Dems started the vitriol although some of it was there going all the way back to the first Bush presidency and the Florida debacle.

Even some Republicans have turned on Bush on usenet; I think the just want to fit in, I don't see what is that bad about him. So he's not that eloquent. Well Clinton was eloquent all right, and look where that got us.

Normally I don't post stuff I get from friends via email because without doing a lot of tedious research, I don't know if it is true or not. Here is the gist of one I got today, does anyone know if it is credible? Suppose I'll be driven to distraction trying to format it.

Subject was truth about social security.

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. Its easy to check out if you dont believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on whats what .

Our Social Security

Many years ago in Seattle, two wonderful neighbors, Elliott and Patty Roosevelt came to my home to swim on a regular basis. They were a great couple full of laughter and stories that today I continue to marvel at. Both are now deceased, but their stories remain. During the years of our friendship we had many, many discussions about Elliott's parents (President Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt) and how his father and mother never intended for the Social Security and Welfare programs to turn out the way they are today. Elliott used to say that if his parents returned to earth and saw what the politicians had done to their programs they would have burned all of them in hell.

Here is a story I received today regarding the Social Security Program and I immediately thought of Elliott's comments. I Hope you will read this and think about it.

_____________________________________________

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away" -- you may be interested in the following:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

--------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US.

-----------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

--------------------------------------------------

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violating of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

Modern Europeans have a major inferiority complex and they blame all their own problems on the "cowboy" Bush. JMO, it's a love hate relationaship.

It must of been akin to how Winston Churchhil felt in the 30's. He was talking about the dangers of hitler's(pat buchanan's hero) rise, but the "in" crowd in the 30's dismissed him as a kook, but they came begging to him to save Britain when hitler attacked Britain.

"Spread gossip"? What he's outlining is nothing but typical troll tactics. The condescending tone he has takes the cake, as if anybody and everybody but him would fall for that.

A lot of them seem to act like they are more sophisticated, smarter and cultured than we are. I don't know if it is inferiority or superiority, maybe a little of both.

Kind of OT, but Americans seem to have a disproportionate representation on the web, there are quite a few Europeans, a few Russians (that's partly Europe, too), a sprinkling of South Americans, no Mexicans in Mexico I can think of, Canadians, SE Asia like Singapore, Japanese, you talk to Indians on help lines, but I don't recall talking to any on the net, one lone Turk, a few others here and there.

I forgot about your comment about Churchill. Bush sure isn't very appreciated except by a few of his loyal base, but he sure hangs in there. I don't know how he stands it day in and day out. Where would the west have been without Churchill?

Saluting nazi flags.

All half joking aside and I thank God he sent Churchhill, thank you sharing your experiences on your photograph forum.

JMO, some Freepers are very provinvcial(not you), and that's ok, nothing wrong with that, but it really tees me off when some flame thrower like tom tancredo gets which seems more praise than Jesus Christ.

They call me a Bushbot, they should look in the mirror.

Done with my rant, and thanks again for sharing your web experiences . I have been to Europe twice(France, Germany, Austria, and Italy) and you are correct it is mixture of a superioity and inferiority complexes they have in Europe, kinda of like tom tancredo, IMO. :^)

You made me laugh! Thanks. Offhand I can't think of who Tom Tancredo is. That makes me a dunce, I guess. I only keep up with what interests me.

Better not get me started on Freepers, sometimes I let them get to me.

Yeah, that photograph forum is interesting. I don't fit in all that well so nothing new there, and we generally aren't supposed to talk about politics, but when they start the Bush bashing, sometimes I feel compelled to refute what I can of it. One guy is the polar opposite from me, not as in bi-polar, he finally fessed up to being American Socialist Party. I go ewwwww. A socialist.

I found myself on this obscure group on usenet where I had a photog friend, but I got fed up with it after my last rant in defense of Bush, God, and country lol. And I don't consider myself a Bush bot by any means. I'm not used to bashing people. I learned that on the net.

I left one garden group because I got offended by a lady who lived in Maine and don't know where else who does all her weeding by hand and didn't like people who sprayed. I'm here to tell you if my son hadn't come over and sprayed my relatively small yard, I would have spent the entire summer weeding by hand. Enough was enough. And I would rather not do it. Anyway in another context some guy said I was as dumb as a box of rocks. I told him if he would retract what he said about my being dumb I wouldn't say he was being a p***k.

So I come and go. I get my feelings hurt easily, and you have to have thick skin to survive these forums.

I only got to go to Europe once, England, Holland, Belguim and France. Early 70's. I spoke a little French, so got along ok there, it wasn't what I thought it would be, but when I was younger I got along well with most people, wasn't the old cynical crab I've turned into now lol.

Well, that's enough of that. I'm different since I've been on the net for almost 10 years now. I use language I never used before lol. Can't do it here. And I'm not big on flaming people unless they start it; even then, I hold back from really letting them have it. Honestly, I'm not used to bashing people. Even Democrats. I can try to get my point across without gross insults sometimes, but just once I'd like to really let loose somewhere I wouldn't get banned. Only place you can do that is usenet lol.

Same goes for the slander and lies (Dhimmicrat talking points) spread (even here on FR) against Dick DeVos, challenger in the Michigan governor race. Oh, and the RINO/will stay home/will vote alt-party chatter falls in the same category.
