Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens said "there was no suicide attempt," explaining that he mixed painkillers with supplements and became groggy.
He said Wednesday that the confusion over his condition likely stemmed from an empty bottle of pain medication found by his publicist, who was with him at the time. He said the rest of the pills were in a drawer.
Appearing in a news conference at team headquarters a few hours after leaving a hospital for what a police report described as "a drug overdose," Owens wore workout gear and no bandage on his broken right hand. The star receiver smiled and seemed more amused than peeved at the latest ruckus surrounding him.
Owens blamed a combination of hydrocodone, a generic form of Vicodin, with all-natural supplements for making him ill.
"It's very unfortunate for it to go from an allergic reaction to a suicide attempt," he said.
Owens said he feels very capable of playing Sunday in Tennessee, despite this incident and his broken hand. He added that he's "not depressed about anything."
Attempted suicide or not. Terrell needs professional help.
Whether you like him or not, that's not the point. The point is, this episode can probably be best summed up as a cry for help.
It probably was just an accident, he will be ready game time Sunday.
As a Cowboys fan, I'll be rooting for him as he takes the field against his former team mates. :)
Kim Etheredge practically killed him...from a publicity standpoint.
Kim Etheredge was trying to be too glib, what she said about 25 million reasons to live was stupid.
otherwise, I felt they were hiding something. He was probably bombed and pulled a Mel Gibson and she probably freaked.
I was under the impression he was engaged from the Sports Illustrated article. No mention of the fiancée.
I doubt it was a suicide attempt.
TO loves TO too much to harm TO.
More likely a publicity stunt. His publicist/bimbo made the 911 phone call.
Jerry Jones deserves this basket case. Paying 25 million for someone who has such obvious problems was stupid. Too bad Parcells has to deal with this circus and try to coach, too. They need to just pay TO's contract out and tell him to go away before his antics ruin the season.
No, it can't. It can be summed up as the MSM jumping to conclusions. He had an alergic reaction to his meds. Something that has happened to him before.
