It would have to have been during the Elian fiasco or during the whole Terri Schiavo imbroglio.

We at Free Republic are a moderated forum (thank you Jim). Most flame wars are stopped by the Mods before they get out of hand.

Eschior was a liberal lawyer from VA (?) who would sign on under phony names and raise hell.

I've been in a flame war with the same woman since about 2000. It started on one forum and then switched to another forum. It's actually rather humorous how she seems to be obsessed with everything I write, regardless of the subject.

I miss DITHF ('Deep-in-the-Hurtgen-Forest') or what ever his name was, the Medal of Honor, Special Forces, Brigadier General who had inside info on a Clinton/UN plot to rule the world back in 1999.

The Anglo-French Flame War between myself and Angelique. Sadly it was cut short by her untimely passing.

Wellington won my eternal admiration for the following:
Wellington was estranged from his wife for most of his life. After his defeat of Napoleon, many young women wanted to share his bed. However, he refused. He said, "If I am to be the Duke of Wellington, I have to act like the Duke of Wellington."

That, and Napoleon's complete sluggishness and lack of inspiration. Typical genius--he got lazy and stopped believing he had to try. The greatest mistake a smart person commits is believing everyone else is stupid.
The Iron Duke never erred that way. A top-tier defensive mind. He would do well coaching the Chicago Bears.

The longest running feud was between Ash and Don Morgan. Ash kept coming back under different names, so Don had to create a special HTML page with "Ash Alerts".

I'd bet that OWK vs 'Everybody' was the longest.
-- Ash was a piker compared to One Who Knows. -- DonMorgan & Mojo gave OWK a run for his money at least, but he outlasted both of them.
