From Post 16 Lionk:

Seven people were killed in over Labor Day weekend in 2001 in Sioux City. A 23-year-old man, Adam Moss, was convicted of murder in the death of his girlfriend, Leticia Aguilar, her two daughters, three sons and a 58-year-old businessman, Ron Fishman.

Moss, who had a record of theft and drug charges, used a hammer to kill everyone except Aguilar, whose throat he slit with a knife.

Looks his this hammer grew a pair of legs, got an evil idea and started walking around hammering people.

Kinda of tough hammering a nail with a level.

Was life more civil in America during the depression years when people could own machine guns legally and the 10 commandments were taught in public schools?

Strange days were living in today...

LOL! That's a good story. I bet the people on that farm were shocked to see you as well.

We're in our third year of "country life" and it is kind of fun taking a Sunday drive on rural roads to see where they take you. Once we found a stretch of gravel called Nike Road. It ends up in St. Boni where the monument in their park is a Nike missile. It turns out there are two abandoned Nike sites in our area. I'm interested in history so it was a great find.

Wonderful guns.

Is there a point that you'd like to make here? If so, by all means, spit it out.

If you haven't made it down to the steak house in Elysian, MN (near Waterville) make a point to go exploring for it soon. Its been a long time since wife and I were there (we left MN in 2001) but they served the best prime rib ever...
Recently, we were informed that the hotel/restaurant in New Prague had closed. This was one of our favorite get-aways when we lived in Prior Lake. I think it was called Schumacher's... The German food there was great.

Thanks for the tip! I love prime rib. Time for a road trip!

Yes, sadly Schumacher's has closed. Their wild game was excellent.

We've got a pretty good German place in our area called Bayrischer Hof in Montrose. I'd rate it above Black Forest and Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit. Their spareribs and kraut are excellent. Oddly enough, they are not listed on the menu, which is extensive. (insider knowledge :))

Check it out, if you're ever back in the area.

Thanks for the tip, you may have saved my life.

I've always suspected that my neighbor's Chevy Tahoe is planning to murder me in my sleep some night. And that eviiil cell phone on my belt right next to my vital organs. Who wudda thunk that it would turn against me one day and try to fry my innards with it's insidious electronic impulses? There ortta be a law agin those things.

Oh heck I guess he should have used a knife or hammer or just turned the gas on and burned them up. If only he did not have a gun. Sarcasm.

No..BHC is a city in transition. Along the Colorado River there are multi-million dollar homes along with trailer parks. It used to be a major trailer park city, where people just put their motor homes on the river. As things change, people are being displaced and it's evolving, I guess. We live in a new complex that's gated, but I still don't feel entirely safe. But where do you feel truly safe anymore????

Wife and I & some friends made dinner and overnight reservations at Schumachers in January, just as the relatives and Christmas travel wrapped up. We pigged out on 7 or 8 courses (had to get up and walk outside between the 3rd and 4th, which I think was a heavy German noodle dish) and then retired to our little hotel rooms. Each had a whirlpool tub and gas fireplace. Wife and I steamed up the place. Had to open a window to breathe at one point. A guy standing below our second floor window was amazed when we threw open the sash and a boatload of steam came out...

I agree to the extent that those involved ASK for counseling. I have met a number of "counselors' who belie the term and cause more harm than good.

From what I can glean from all the news articles, Shawn Bentler was picked up at a traffic stop where his warrant was pulled and the drug paraphenelia was found in the car.

That would mean he was likely speeding as why he was first pulled over, possibly trying to get home quick if he did this. I wonder exactly when he was pulled over and if that matched the time of the shootings.

There aren't many cops out at that time, in reality the best time to pull something like that and get away unnoticed back to home base would be that time of the morning. This could have been more calculated than at first glance.

It also may be because he was dealing and the family got killed because he owed someone some money, but that seems pretty unlikely.

This ran in the Quincy-Herald Whig this morning. http://www.whig.com/287266909709439.php

Living in Quincy, I thought this was sad, but figured this was only local or regional news
