They had a 3 score lead with less than 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter, and it was a fumble on a sack when Matt dropped back for another pass that caused the lead to stop being 3 scores. And after tha first possession the Cards weren't moving the ball well, the first possession was their only drive to go over 50 yards, only 4 of their 16 other possessions went over 20 yards while 5 of those possession went for negative yards.
The dynamic Card offense produced 286 yards. It had ONE drive and the rest was gift wrapped. There were 38 rushes and 42 passes which is almost the ideal balance.
There was no "gas" getting to the engine after that one drive.
They didn't eat the clock when trying to get the field goal but perhaps should have since another three yrds would have produced a winning kick. Time was left on the clock.
The rest was gift-wrapped indeed. Giftwrapped by the Card defense that played way over their heads. The offense didn't have to go that far because their defense was constantly setting them up with the turnover. Yet with all their incompetence they were still beating one of the best teams in football by a relatively large margin and they couldn't finish the job. Heck, it didn't take Norman Einstein to see the collapse coming with each hand off to Edgerrin James into the line for zero gain or less.
The result was that the guy that was calling the plays, the offensive coordinator, is now seeking employment elsewhere.
It's been fun.
Green had to find a scapegoat and he did.
My only point is that without the 38 rushes Arz would not have had any success passing the ball.
I don't think Arz's defense was that good. Grossman was terribly inaccurate. Although the dbs were knocking the hell out of our receivers that I can't deny.
