Not to mention Mellencamp is a rabid Bush basher.

What a sell-out. Selling his mediocre song to the masses on FOX.

Did they not sing the National Anthem last night, either? I missed the start of the game.

Next they'll cut to some actors in the crowd and point out their new Fox movie or series on Fox!

Well I'm cheering for the Tigers (AL guy) but right now I'm
drinking an alcoholic product from St. Louis (well, mine
was probably brewed in Merrimack, NH*)...you know,
Clydesdales and all...

*--took tour of the Bud plant for the second or third time in my life last year...and a few weeks ago, I drove by the
Merrimack brewery they have and yup you could smell the
hops and barley!

Are they playing this crap instead of the National Anthem, or are they just not televising the National Anthem?

I went to the Fort Collins Bud plant once upon a time.

I've also visited the mothership for Miller in Milwaukee.

Sparky Anderson shown in crowd. Only mgr I know of to win World Series in 2 different leagues. By the time this is over
either Leyland (Det) or LaRussa (Stl) will join that category

LaRussa w/ Oakland before
Leyland w/ Florida before

At least Anita Baker was genuinely thrilled to sing the national anthem. Good for her! She is one of the best ever, so I'll cut her a little slack now and then. Her spirit was refreshing, I gave a big cheer at the end of it!

interesting fact in my morning paper: before last night, the last time an NL team won a World Series game was Game 6 in
2003, when Josh Beckett and the Marlins beat the Yankees.

2004--Cardinals swept by Red Sox. Never even held a lead.
2005--White Sox sweep Astros

So last night the NL finally broke the drought. And to be honest, all those "Tigers will win easily" predictions
were squashed. This could go 6 or 7 and either team could
win.

By the seventh inning the crowd will be singing that traditional song: "I hear those sleigh bells jingling,
ring, ting, tingling too/ Come on it's lovely weather for a
sleigh ride together with you..."

(by the way it's been pointed out that the "giddyup, giddyup,
giddyup let's go" part of that song sounds like part of
the baseball/sports theme for Fox...)

remember...WS ended in Nov once

In 2001 baseball took a few days off due to 9/11, what with respect for the victims and planes grounded. By the time
game 7 of the WS was played (Yanks beaten by Arizona) it
was Nov. 4...

LogoServer.com, interesting site with logos for major and minor league sports. Tigers and Cardinals logos haven't changed much. Some of the minor league logos are worth a looksee:
Looks like the Florida Marlins aren't the only team down there with that name. Minor league team from late 50s:

Curse you, (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre) Red Barons!

The team that moved (from New Haven CT) to Manchester NH in the Eastern League orig. wanted to be called the N.H. Primaries, but fans objected and the name Fisher Cats (a kind of weasel) was chosen instead.

NH PRIMARIES (never went to bat under that name...)
Uncle Sam at the bat!

Appropriate that the Washington Nationals should have a farm team called the Senators (though actually the farm team was with them during the Expos days):

NY-Penn League's Hudson Valley Renegades: they steal bases like those masked bandits raid your trash!

The Expos' farm team in Burlington VT...still affiliated with the organization (now the Wash. Nationals); they ditched the Expos name but dubbed themselves the Lake Monsters--perhaps due to popularity of their mascot sea monster Champ! (as in Lake Champlain)

Is Burl Ives singing at the seventh inning stretch??

One year in St. Louis, I went to both the hottest game (105 degrees) and the coldest (40). I enjoyed the hot game better.

Today in Tampa had to be the hottest football game in ever!

Heard that the temp was 100 degrees on the field.

Iggles lost! Too hot for McNabb, poor baby.
