MORFORD: Unmarried Tattooed Heathens, Ho!
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/25/6 | Mark Morford

Posted on 10/25/2006 8:09:38 AM PDT by SmithL

More shacking up, more visible body art, less concern for the old ways. Is America dead?

America is dead.

No really, it is. And it's not just because we've lost habeas corpus, a bedrock protective law and a cornerstone of American freedom, to the rabid, stupid dogs of neoconservative fearmongering. That merely feels like a weird horror movie, the leatherfaced guy with the chain saw hacking off the head of the sexy college girl and laughing maniacally. The pain is simply too horrific and cartoonish to even register. Yet.

No, Bush's ambling rape of the Constitution and moral law is not the true sign of social decay and devolution. There is a far worse problem lurking, lingering, sneaking up on American values like giant snakes slithering onto a plane.

The real problem is, of course, tattoos. And piercings. And also: single people who defy the institution of marriage and choose to live together in sin. And then get tattoos. Haven't you heard?

Oh, the breakdown, the rending and tearing of the social fabric of American life. Just look. Look at these headlines, blaring and moaning and scaring the children. Here's the first one: For the first time in America's pubescent history, single-parent households and unmarried couples outnumber marrieds. And the Christian right went, "Noooooooo! "

It's true.

Someone would hit it:

Ah, the death of America. Ain't it grand? Librarian Colleen Harris shows off a small portion of her body art outside the William T. Young Library where she works on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington, Ky.

Only someone with equally low self-respect and self-esteem.

Big difference between a cute little rose or discrete dolphin than one of those tailbone tramp stamps & all the ink this skank has.

...tailbone tramp stamps

LOL... if they had it done in prison... it's even better!

One day a lot of these people are going to wake up, look at themselves in the mirror and wonder "what the hell was I thinking?"

Of course, by then it's too late. Laser removal leaves some bad scarring, especially if it's over a wide area like this woman's arm and it's rather pricy. A hard pill to swallow on a librarian's salary.

That tattoo removal creams have been widely debunked as worthless.

A quintessential Tramp Stamp. (Blurred for the mods, of course)

Tatoos do not age well and CANNOT be totally laser removed. These will look hideous as these skanks get old.

I honestly cannot fathom why any person would want to permanently deface their body like that. It's the equivalent of applying non-removable graffiti on their body.

She HAS tattoos. What she NEEDS is a manicure.

A sign of the times. Follow an impetuous urge or fad without considering the long term consequences.

"Hey Grandma, what's that ugly blue blob on your breast?"

LOL and right you are! These tatoos are passe.

No young person in 2030 would DREAM of having a hideous tatoo. It will be a symbol of unattractive old farthood.

No foolin'!

I've been around enough real "Old Navy" to understand that tattoos do not age well.

I'm guessing this guy(?) does not get a lot of dates, at least with something not inflatable and made of vinyl.

Freak does not even begin to scratch the surface to describe this. What kind of hideous self-loathing does a person have to have for themselves to do something like this?
