Too bad so many Republicans bash L/libertarians at every turn. It would have saved the Republicans the MO Senate seat and the Senate overall.

Maybe, but I plan to work my butt off for the next two years. Maybe the RNC will find focus again and offer another Contract with America and work to meet every point in it. Between now and 2008, we can snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Ya know what , GOOD... Lets clean house. Even if the rats win both houses, they'll never have enough votes to override a veto. So who cares ? Lets give the American people 2 years to see what you get with these freakin people running things. We'll be back in charge in one election cycle.

Hard to believe that they are still getting away with that scam! It is almost like the return of feudalism to see the multimmillionaires come to power on the backs of the inner cities they serve so badly. Sickening. I am going to have to find a new hobby. These creeps make me sick.

Its going to be years before we get control of either house, if there is one positive maybe the voters will be hesitant to give the Dems the Presidency while they control both houses of Congress...

By that time we will have court ordered gay marriage, guns will be gone and socialized medicine will be the thing. If those things happen then I hope the whole country falls apart. I really will not matter to me. I will work to bring it down.

All that's left is pretty much St. Louis county. I'm not sure how that will break, but it probably won't be enough to get Jimmy back to "crossing the aisles to work with Ted Kennedy" in Washington. In fact, it will most likely widen McCaskill's lead. Stupid campaign. And it looks like he's going to lose.

Notice that he only took St. Charles county by about 5%. He didn't do well enough where he had to to overcome the St. Louis city machine. Plus he's a moron for running the "getting things done" campaign (esp. when the Senate accomplished absolutely friggin zero).

Sorry for the rant. Almost.

People get the government they deserve.

WEll, fortunately, I live in South Carolina and all of the people I voted for and most of the ballot positions I took went my way, but I am very upset about the national picture, as well as the defeat of the abortion ban in SD.

If the Senate is lost as well, I'd like to see Bush and Cheney resign. Then...it would be President Pelosi. A DISASTER. It would be terrible for the country, and maybe that's what this stupid electorate needs, is a quick remember of how awful the Democrats are. After two years of President Pelosi, House Speaker Charles Rangel, and Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Republicans would retake the legislative and executive branches with margins never seen before. 60 GOP Senators, 50 seat lead in the House.

But seriously, this is just disgusting. What is wrong with our countrymen, heck, this species as a whole. Humanity is a great disappointment.

How did things get this bad?

This should not have been a shock if you had believed polls (without exception) showing this outcome for the past 2 months. But I guess some overly optimistic people here were not being realistic.

As to why it happened - corruption (House Repubs), war, relentless bad news (yes, the MSM matters), and poor execution of conservative bills (like immigration).

Meanwhile the marriage amendments are passing. Affirmative Action was killed by the people of Wisconsin. And the cloning/embryonic amendment seems to be losing in Missouri. All conservative positions. Hmm. Let me get this straight.

Conservative positions are winning. Democrats running as conservatives are winning. And a Party that promised conservatism and screwed us over is losing. Lesson? The GOP should have thrown McCain out on his ears, enforced discipline and got the job done as promised.

Instead they catered to McCain and the moderates, and in the end the moderates sit it out and the conservative Dem voters go with the conservative campaigns the Dems ran.
