President Bush should have the leaders of Taiwan on the phone today informing them that if China decides to move on them, they're on their own. Good luck, it was nice knowin' ya.
Before today I believed a majority of Americans had the intestinal fortitude to see the fight for a future free from Islamic fascism through to the end. I believed we had learned from the past that we won't lose on the battlefield, we'll only lose the fight at home and we, enough of us anyway, surely won't let that happen again.
That was utterly pollyanish and wishful thinking. Our inevitable redeployment(i.e.retreat) from Iraq will send shockwaves around the world. The Muzzies will be dancing in the streets(umm, they already are) and congratulating Osama for his prescience in concluding that America has no stomach for a long fight and our allies or potential ones will always know that America is a reliable partner only if the work is quick and painless.
Ironically, I just finished reading Flags of Our Fathers which recounts the lives and actions of the six Americans who raised the flag on Mt. Suribachi and their brethern Marines who weathered the toughest 30 days of fighting in modern American warfare---7,000 dead and 26,000 casualties. And that came at the end of 4 years that saw 300,000 deaths and almost 700,000 wounded. Yet those Americans, that America, took body blow after body blow, kept getting off the mat and defeated not one but two existential threats to our way of life.
As I have posted before, I feared that that America is merely a distant memory and doesn't exist anymore--at least in sufficient quantity to make a difference. That fear was played out last night in umambiguous terms. We just gave the Jihadists the green light to come after us at their leisure. We'll bluster, threaten and bellow and talk a good game but when the going gets tough or long, we'll fold our tents and go home.
I fear for my children and their children today.
I fear for my country.
Bump for your fears; I share them.
Me three, and well said Neville!
Not going to happen until after the Olympics are held in China.
At that point....
I share your fears, Neville72. BTTT
Listening to Mr. Bush in his press conference today I'd say his scrotum has shrunk considerably.
Can I kiss your ass Ms. Pelosi?
We are Europe. We have lost our instinct for survival
Add Israel to the list!
China's leadership certainly understands this well. Putin's cronies have undoubtedly taken notice. France's backstabbing class sees it as well. And the Iranian nutjobs, Venezuelan idiots, Al Quaeda murderers, Palestinian murderers, Baathists, and other assorted thugs see it clearly, too. They have plans that will unfold over time. The lives of their subjects are cheap, and their ambitions are unlimited. They have little to worry about - after all, who is going to stop them now?
Tawain would be far safer if the Republican Congress had not used Chinese funded debt to massively expand the size and scope of the Federal Government.
We just moved one step towards the dark ages today. How bad will it have to be before we take these jihadists seriously?
I think the message has been sent. What could have been solved conventionally will now go nuclear. The ignorance of the citizenry has now ushered in the Biblical holocaust predicted centuries ago. A godless society cannot elect good men to office. Iran is free to take the middle east on their own timetable. Israel will have to thaw out their nuclear weaponry.
C'mon. Colin Powell already announced to Taiwan that
it was owned by China, in October of 2004. Fistfights broke
out in the Taiwanese legislature over the matter, and we
nearly lost a big arms sale of jets over it. It has nothing
to do with the Democrats.
It's times like this that I thank God that I am not prone to depression.
Colin was fired, remember? He just couldn't understand he had a boss.
China will annex Taiwan later or sooner. The Guomintang supports it. In the real world, the U.S. is not going to fight a country with 1.4 billion people and 200 nuclear warheads to prevent it.
The negativity on this forum is sickening.
Unless the conservatives present the new American, unafraid firebrand, unapologetic, bold guy, the people who have depended on us are toast. Live with it , it is reality.
The chia pet Ill Kim chee NK can now pursue his little nuclear kingdom now that his pals.....the Dems are back in control. More champagne toasts with Madaleine Halfwit there Dear Leader? Sorry Japan..you are on your own.
I would rather be forced to watch a solid month, 24 hrs a day of EHarmony.com commercials than listen to the fat pig, Maines warble one song. Enjoy the show.
"Never say die while there's a shot in the locker".
I suspect there will be mushroom clouds over several arab cities before Israel is finished...
Colin was fired, remember? He just couldn't understand he had a boss.
You are correct about the negativity... ironic that it is the dims themselves that are the negative here.
We were just in a bar brawl (last night) and we lost. You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and break a friggin' beer bottle over the head of the guy you fought with. ;-)
I say that all those little countries that have relied on us for the last 60 years have taken us for suckers and should defend themselves. Are you worried about Japan and S. Korea? They could develop and deploy a complete nuclear deterrent in 4 years or less. Ditto Taiwan.
They have no need to when Uncle Sucker will do it for them. How about we think of ourselves first from now on. As for the Dems, they wouldn't have a prayer if our guys weren't such losers. Let's fix our own house and then watch theirs fall apart. I'm talking real conservatism here. We haven't seen it yet. Not in 1980, or 1994, and definitely not in 2000.
Let's start now.
You got that right.
One other thing. If you're bummed out now think how you'll feel in 2008. Need I elaborate?
By the way, I kind of have my doubts that China really wants to attack Taiwan. With good reason: China is growing so fast economically by themselves that it would be economic suicide to attack Taiwan. My stepdad visited Guangzhou (Canton) last year and he told me the city is just about as modern as Hong Kong now, a sign that China doesn't need Taiwan's technical expertise anymore.
"I suspect there will be mushroom clouds over several arab cities before Israel is finished".
Not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if English is superseded by Arabic.
He's already pretty much told them that anyway.
Yesterday, a majority of the electorate voted to stab the troops in the back.
And they did so for the second time in a single generation.
My new tagline says it all.
"I would rather be forced to watch a solid month, 24 hrs a day of EHarmony.com commercials..."
Or worse, A months of watching those Progressive Direct commercials. I frigging hate that guy!
Exactly my thoughts and what I have been telling everyone I've talked to today, although not as well as you just did.
As a student of history I have learned to hate history. I'm afraid we have forgotten history and as it's been said we are doomed to repeat it.
Most people I know hate history. Thats why, sure enough, we will be doomed to repeat it. The Old Testament is full of examples where if only Israel had kept to the straight and narrow....
BTW, nice tagline
Might as well call Maliki in Iraq too. There is apparently no stomach in the U.S. to defend ourselves let alone our allies. Hope nobody needs our help in the near future since there isn't much help to offer them.
BINGO! If the islamofascists are delusional enough, this election could lead to the first nuke war of the 21st century. Maybe having Israel go nuclear is the lesson that the world needs to see past petty partisan political fights.
Thats the first bit of advice that I have read that makes any sense...........
Frankly, the Taiwanese would have been on their own even if the Republicans kept the House.
A lot of Republican congressmen and senators prostitute themselves to corporations who do business with Red China.
They can and do practice their religion and carry out their sub-human campaign of death in any and all languages.
This is not a problem of a region, a people, or a country or countries. It is a transnational cult of death the transcends any horror mankind has ever dared to imagine.
Satan is clearly in the middle of this. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the antidote and we must be willing to give our lives spreading it.
