Child Was Reprimanded In September After Calling Teacher "Sexy"

(CBS) PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- A 10-year-old boy was suspended from school after asking his teacher for a hug and calling her "sexy."

Aaron Perez received the suspension last week after hoping for just a hug from his Putnam Valley Middle School teacher. He had been reprimanded in September for the "sexy" remark and his parents say he meant nothing inappropriate and that "sexy" is a term of endearment used around the house and heard all over television.

"I got scared when I got suspended and the reason I asked my teacher for a hug was to hope she had a good weekend," Aaron told CBS 2 News.

Perez's teacher, however, disagreed and complained the boy was acting in an inappropriate manner.

Today the Perez family sat down with Superintendent Gary Tutty and is hoping to clear the air as well as Aaron's school record.

Aaron's parents say they're upset they weren't able to talk to the offended teacher directly, but today Tutty agreed to set up a phone conference with all of the parties involved.

Kids act inappropriately without understanding what they are really doing. In my experience, the kids that innocently do stuff like this have had "experiences" in the past with adults who treated them in an illegal, immoral, and disgusting way. Then you have the naughty kids who are being sexualized early by MTV, and know they are playing with something they shouldn't. Hard to tell which one this is.

My granddaughter asked me what massingill[sp]was the other day.I was stunned.She is six years old.I told her to ask her aunt!Did not go over well with the wife.Heck,I did not have a clue as to what to tell her.Thankfully,I have a Granny who takes care of those types of things.Eight granddaughters and two grandsons.I take care of the boys,and they really do not need"The Speech".They know more than I do.I go to them when I need help with Granny!!

I know how you feel. I've heard more than a few of our friends' children talking about sex or wanting to date and they are all under the age of 12. The interesting thing is, the parents aren't the type of people who would be so casual about these subjects, but the childrens' friends are all very sexual for such a young age. It's all very disturbing.
