I saw and heard him announce, officially, back in his home district. Fox News carried it live, and CSpan showed it later on, more than once. It was close to the Elections. Maybe that's why you missed it? Another poster has already linked you to one of the threads we had on it at the time. Believe it, it's been a done deal since then.

Very good, it would appear that a conservative has stepped up to the plate and we are no longer stuck with the three Pseudocrats.

Your naming of Rudy, McCain and Romney as Pseudocrats is clever, but I don't care to insult the men.

I think they live in a different world from Mr. Hunter, though, and I think Mr. Hunter's world is more realistic as well as more conservative. I like it that he is worried about fair trade and about China. He is also solid up and down the line on the other things that most count.

Many accuse me (again, name-calling) of being a Bushbot because I repeatedly defend the President as deserving of respect and more support than he has gotten. However, long ago I concluded we needed a border fence, and long ago I have been concerned about China (Russia too, for that matter). Now we've got Chavez to our South making common cause with those who want to destroy us. The thing I like most about Mr Hunter in such times as these is he seems extremely well informed...knows his stuff and can politely stuff it back in the face of people who are mistating the facts, and that he appears to have no personal "image" to advance or protect.

Unlike the ones you mentioned at the first, who have imaged themselves to death IMO, some of it for the good (such as Rudy and the War on Terror) but too narrowly...not seeing or advancing the bigger security picture without fear or favor...and some of it for the bad...Rudy the flaming Lib on Social Issues, McCain the Media Darling who's so concerned about "torturing terrorists", etc. Romney is ALL about image. Good looking, articulate, and probably fairly competent and skilled in governance. Not saying he's an empty suit. Just saying, I don't know.

I'm impressed with how Romney comes across; I just can't get a read on the real guts of the man.

I lean toward supporting Duncan Hunter, at present. I hope he stands up to scrutiny, and I hope it isn't a lost cause.

I've lost the fire for arguing with the "America Firsters".

America Firsters? Then, pray tell, what does that make you?

Happy Thanksgiving....you know, that AMERICAN holiday.

"America First" is a term coined by the movement that wanted to keep us out of WWII by the same lack of logic that argues for a "fortress America" disengagement policy today. Is that what YOU want? The choice of that name in the 1930's was as cynical as what you just typed and as disingenuous as Kerry "reporting for duty".

Forgive me, I wasn't around in the '30's.
