So you think sending other countries America's manufacturing jobs is good for everyone?

I'll put America first, rest of the world second. That's just me.

The paragraph on pork is the longest.

I don't know if he "officially" announced but unless I was dreaming this AM, he said he was gonna do it.

"The next election will be fought in Penn, Ohio, New Mexico, Minnesota, Florida and Iowa. All states quite susceptible to Hunters position on trade."

Exactly. Protectionist states like Ohio and Pennsylvania will be relevent in 2008, whereas free trade states like California will not. Granted some protectionist states like Montana and North Carolina won't be in play, but more protectionist states will be in play than free trade states. In fact, what free trade states will be in play in 2008? I can't think of any.

Something about the whole free trade mantra of "spreading the wealth" and "using America's jobs and resources to halt third world poverty" sounds kind of socialist to me.

Your fixed pie understanding of Free Trade sounds socialist to me.

I wouldn't bet on it. People are a lot more likely to go ahead and vote for someone, despite some disagreement, than they are to give money to him, particularly if they see that disagreement as costing them money. Some business groups will support him because they benefit from protectionism, and some will support him despite his positions on it, but others will be far less enthusiastic, and I doubt he will be able to raise the vast amounts of money that have become standard recently.

And while protectionism may help him in the states you list, he will be hurt across the board if a lack of resources stretches him too thin.

Ping from New Hampshire.

So he announced that he will announce?

With the current field of Rudy-Mitt-McCain, maybe you were dreaming. :)

We'll see. One of us will be able to say "I told you so", either the old guy or the young guy. I'm betting on the old guy. :-}

Why does my thread keep disappearing from activism?

Hunter's responsibalty exceeds that of an Ark Gov.
San Diego has the largest amount of military than any other area in the U.S. We have the largest and busiest border crossing in the world at our southern area.
And the list could go on.

An intriguing choice for President. I wish we had more Ducan Hunters in other states. Has there been anyone elected President who failed to win his home state? Mormon Mitt can't carry MA. It is sketchy if Rudy can win NY. McCain would carry AZ.

Cuz it's a vanity. However, I got my vanity on Friedman upgraded to "editorial," from "chat," upon request. You might try "GOP club", or announce your support and why in your own words, with the campaign site screed you already posted below, and see if I have greased your way to that exhalted "editorial" status.

I don't know why I am helping you, since you are touting a candidate other than Rudy. It must be a senior moment on my part.

This is crazy. I can't list it under any topic. Nothing vain about this thread. It seeks to inform freepers on an alternative candidate and act as a place to bounce the pros and cons off the hoi polloi. The thread should be in activism because that's exactly what it is.

Yeah, care to explain how? I hate when people just say stuff and don't promptly back it up.

Maybe "activisim" is for the general election and not primaries, per the powers that be. I still think if you type up a well thought out screed, and put it up, that it will cut it as an "editorial."
