Does anyone know a source for the transcript of the great call on Rush several years ago from "Karen from Whitefish?" (It pretty much persuaded me that Rush was nothing more than an entertainer)
I'm spending the day transferring the files from one ancient compewder to one slightly less so.
Let us remember that 43 years ago today, two of the greatest men of the 20th century died, C.S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. And some Massachussetts playboy also died, after making hedonism okay in the White House.
???
IBTZ
Sheesh. You're all class, aren't you?
Of course Rush is an entertainer, but "nothing more"? You can't be that clueless.
Don't think it's a zot, but it's sure confusing!

Hey, that's the part he got right.

"Big bad John, Bad John..."
I want to complain.
You want to complain! Look at these shoes. I've only had them three weeks and the heels are worn right through.
No, I want to complain about...
If you complain nothing happens, you might as well not bother.
Oh my back hurts, it's not a very fine day and I'm sick and tired of this office.
hmmmm ?
Except, it's been deleted.
I think one needs a premium FR account to read the older threads. :O)
Either we are equal or we are not. No, I want to complain about... If you complain nothing happens, you might as well not bother.

This is turning into a very strange thread. :)
That's some nice fauxtography, dead! (laughing)
I complained that I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet...
Then I asked him, "Hey, can I have your shoes?"
I have a hole in the toe of one of my socks.
It sucks.
The short version: Socks. Sucks.
We've only just begun to approach strange.
I don't know what's so strange about my contribution. Lefties are always yapping about equality when it suits them but not about the best and brightest. You decide, are we equal or not, but be then consistent in your politics.
Either we are equal or we are not. Good people ought to be armed where they will, with wits and guns. NRA KMA
LOL!
Days like this I'm glad I have a compewder. ;)
I grew up in Des Plaines, btw :)
To me, the strangeness came just from the wide variety of topics assembled in one thread, that's all. :)
No offense meant. :)
I once drove through Elk Grove Village, IL...on my way back home to Elk Grove, California.
Ahh...

De plane, boss!
The right-wing newbies are casting about trying to find something conservative that'll resonate nicely. Conservatism is hammering on the invincibly ignorant - forever. Not about pandering to the muddled middle.

LOL! *blushes* I should have asked. :)
That's interesting how quickly Elk Grove, CA has grown.
Boy does that bring back memories :)
What picture did you post? I'm just getting a www.tripod.com message.:(
I actually saw that plane crash in, what was it, 1978? On takeoff. It went behind the buildings and then there was a huge cloud of black smoke.
I think you found just the right one! Certainly there's a lot of potential here. :)

Rush used to care about issues like abortion and even did "caller abortions" on pro-abort nuisances, but the Snapple Company was afraid it might hurt them with the youth market they were targeting so Rush dropped the pro-life thrust.
Rush then decided that the worst fate that could befall the republic was the upper bracket income tax as it applied to high income talking heads, closely followed by the possibility that some blue collar worker, any blue collar worker somewhere in American might not have his job exported to Bangladesh.
My magic moment that cured me of any Rush addiction by realizing how truly clueless Rush is was when he received a call from a young woman describing herself as Karen from Whitefish, Montana. She told Rush that it did not much matter who got elected and that America, as we know it, is over, that the goivernment schools have done their job of thoroughly laundering what passes for the minds of their inmates, that general levels of political ignorance know no bounds, that Rush was teasing his listeners with a false premise that electing a president would make everything right.
Karen's call lasted more than half an hour with Rush denying his essential irrelevance. Karen told Rush that she had graduated with a history degree from a local Montana small college, that the only leadership she would follow within the human race was her father and her husband, that she and her husband would be busy having a large family and keeping the children far, far from the wrong influences by homeschooling them and avoiding that which passes for public "entertainment;" that when enough families did likewise, we would be ready for a new generation of leadership to run another revolution and restore the rights that we mistakenly suppose that we still enjoy.
Rush reacted by ranting for the rest of the show that it is unrealistic buffoons like Karen from Whitefish, Montana, who are the real problem. Rush: What a maroon! He coulda been a contenda. I disagree with SOME of what Karen had to say but her idea of starting the next revolution with your own kids schooling them at home sure made sense. Nonetheless, it helped me to stop wasting my time listening to Rush rant and rave about his taxes and treat Dubya as only Jesus Christ should be treated. I voted for Dubya and I will vote for him again but not under any delusion that he is a political messiah. He is simply not the Arkansas Antichrist or Mrs. Antichrist and that will have to be good enough for now in the degenerate state of our nation.

Oh, whoops!
Like everyone, sometimes Rush is wrong. That doesn't make him "clueless" or anything of the sort.
He's not wrong very often.
:) Thanks! :)
Just helpin' the fella out with the link. I don't listen to Rush so I have no opinion.
Sorry, it wasn't necessarily directed at you. Just responding to the quote.
Yes, I've seen that thread. But still no transcript. For whatever reason it has been deleted from FR archives.
I must say, that in my years of listening, it was the angriest I ever heard Rush get with a caller. Evidently her characterization of him as a "Happy Conservative" (which I think is right on the mark) really got to him, and he basically told her to drop dead just because she was being a realist about the GOP not being a conservative organization, wih which I also agree wholeheartedly.
I remember that call and how Karen was a total downer. She basically kept saying how its over for America, and that there is no hope for the future. Rush, like Reagan used to always looked toward a bright future. I may not always agree, but people like Karen apparently believe that not participating in the political process is the answer. This by default leaves the liberals in charge. Like what happened a couple of weeks ago when conservatives just gave up. Not voting for republicans= a vote FOR liberalism
Interesting. I recall that she was not a downer but rather being brutally honest in trying to 1) assess the situation and 2) formulate a response, and Rush was failing at Step 1. I remember thinking that Rush got so angry because she was not buying his pollyannish "optimism" that all that was necessary for success was for the GOP to gain control of the WH and both Houses of congress, which IMHO was simply wishful thinking. Time has judged both arguments, and IMHO hers has prevailed as the "Republican dominance" has led us almost uniformly to the left (as I define it).
But it could al be a matter of semantics. If you wanted to reduce the size, scope, power, and influence of the collective, you would vote with Karen. If not, not. 'Cause the GOP sure hasn't done that. I do not define victory as losing more slowly.
Rush is the first to admit this.
