As expected, Ford will unveil this one-off based on its Mustang pony car in Los Angeles. Dubbed the Ford Mustang Giugiaro concept, the fully drivable scissor-doored coupe boasts a chopped glass roof and is powered by Ford Racing technologies. The design is said to hint at whats in store for the 2010 Mustang replacement.

This ought to wet your whistle for starters...
Yessir, it does.
Er... sun visors?
Looks like a '68 Camaro to me.
I like the new Mustangs. It's the most successful "retro" car look I've seen yet, except maybe Dodge's new Challenger concept.
}:-)4
I like it...it manages to look both "retro" and cutting-edge at the same time, and the one flows into the other.
Wonder how it drives?
WOW! That looks SWEET! I like the color too!
YOU didn't put one in a Fiero did you? Oh my....
Go take a look at the other pictures, stunning....
The color is known as "baby sh*t brown." Nice, huh?
I think it looks like the concept Camaro.
"YOU didn't put one in a Fiero did you? Oh my...."
:-D

Love it! Except the seat inserts.
Supercharged 4.7L = 500+bhp. SCHWINGGGGG.
Look close, it looks like the limited edition metallic orange used for a short time on 2000-2001ish Exlorer's and Sport-Trac's and the SVT Focus I believe, you may want to check for yourself.

From this angle I would rather have the "back glass" look more squared off like a coupe...
But.. all in all I like it.. IT could have been better.. but its still good.

Pretty sharp. Too bad I won't be able to afford this one either...
You deserve a cold beer with Jay Leno!
My gosh, hats off to you, what little tinkering I have done, that is no easy feet.
I think its more of a "Burnt Orange"
BTTT
Oh wow thanks for the top shot.. hmmm... now thats interesting...

It's interesting, but didn't Subaru already do the all-glass-top sportscar thing? Anyway, I'll be happier if Ford just continues to crank out "specialty" models of the current Mustang over the next 2 - 3 years. They've already got the Shelby variant covered, and the California Special as well. Now they need style / performance packages based on the Mach 1 and Boss 302 - both of those are naturals for the current sheetmetal (which owes much to the Mach 1 / Boss heyday of '69 - '70).
ok, just looked though all the pics.. thats one MEAN lookin' MOFO! Anyone wanna buy me one? oh yea... I can't drive for a year... d@mn... :(
I'm sure that item would never make it to production, but the lines are clean and sexy, definately sweet.
Nice side Mirrors.
"Objects may be closer or not but who cares you can't see them on this tiny piece of mirror anyway but if you go fast enough it won't matter!"
Take a look at the Lincoln MKS Showcar, it had it as well. Who knows, maybe they have figured out a way to do it.
I suspect those are rear-facing videocamera pods, not mirrors.

Oh-oh. In that thing
people in helicopters
would be able to
see when my hand is
on Anna's knee! She might not
want to ride with me . . .
Nuther damn front-drive?
Probably, It may have a 4WD option, I don't know, according to the Detriot News and Freepress today, it is slated for the showrooms for the 2008 year, so we will find out soon, one would think.
Ahhhh...
Does it come with a 4 cylinder engine in order to save money and perserve the planet??
Don't know, My guess is it would have their new 3.5l V6. Google it for specs.

The front, particularly the headlights, are Camaro-esque. The interior is a knockout, but all the reflective surfaces on the dash would be a pain in bright sunlight. The profile proportions are a little on the stubby side, but I suppose that keeps the classic Mustang fastback profile, while allowing enough headroom for rear seats. The glass roof is visually stunning, but I don't think most people would spring for it ... too hot. It's interesting that Giugiaro chose to design this vehicle to only accomodate North American style license plates.
The 19 yr. old that penned that concept, may have done better than the one shown by GM themselves!
And the ad copy will read (as it always should) "Mustang -- America's favorite make-believe sports car!"
Looks like a loser to me too. Why would anybody want one, especially that color?

Original Paint Too!
Not to mention:

Or my Favorite of all Mustangs:
1969 GT500 Convertible: This car originally came form down here in NC!! Only 335 of these ever built! That's right 428 CuI automatic 4 brll.
I heard it is GLT friendly and comes with two stick shifts...

Don't like the tailights but everything else is a go.
Great looking Mustang. I thik the "chop" is a little too radical and the doors are too futuristic for the general public. With some slight modification, they've got a real winner.
I'm a long time Mustang fan. My first new car was a 1966 Mustang. Just sold my last one - a 1964 1/2. Now in the market for another one. A new one this time.
The new retro Mustangs have been one of the few things FMC is doing right.
"Holy cr*p, the entire top is one piece of glass!
I'm sure that item would never make it to production, but the lines are clean and sexy, definately sweet."
2007 Ford Edge has a glass top.
Or as Chevy calls it "sunset metallic."
