Dogs, bats and rats will grace dinner tables across Asia this Christmas, where the holiday is feted with lots of cheer and very little turkey.

Christmas Day is seen as a foreign festival in many countries in Asia, but that doesn't stop millions of people from cooking up banquets of local food unheard of in the West, including delicacies such as pork soaked in blood, garden rats cooked with chilies and garlic, and bats cooked in coconut milk.

Hmmmm...

Bats cooked in coconut milk.

Try leaving that one out for Santa Claus instead of cookies and milk!

Raising turkeys is mostly American.
While working as a bird dog (client Representative) in the oldest Christian Country (Armenia) during the winter months, we had turkeys flown in for Christmas.

At the head quarters in Yerevan there were no problems.
At our main drill site, the cooks had no idea of how to prepare turkeys.
They got these large frozen turkeys, put them in large pots and boiled them for several hours.
Needless to say, all of the turkeys were still frozen in the center and were not safe to eat.

Here in Bangkok, we had an excellent Italian dinner with venison ravioli, roast lamb and antipasto. However for Christmas breakfast I went back to a more typical Thai bowl of boiled rice seasoned with dried fish, chilli and pickled cabbage. Merry Christmas All!

Asians have stolen the Adam's family Christmas dinner recipes?

Sounds delicious, but I personally prefer the more traditional road kill Possum, deep fried in Castor oil.
