I have been a Cowboys fan since they started---Eddie LeBaron, Don Perkins, Don Meredith. This current group has broken my heart. Romo is great, but undisciplined and their coaching, despite Parcells' reputation, is horrible. They NEVER have a game plan, are always (seemingly) "out-motivated." I hope Jones has enough sense to fire Parcells and BEG Jimmy Johnson to show, one more time, that he can be the best coach in football.

Oh, no, not the Jummy.
I know Tony made mistakes, but they did score 31 points...that's enough to win most games.
ps They will always be America's Team. get over it.

What hurt the Cowboys is that NFL marketing decided to make Roma the next "Golden Boy" after just a couple games which put a lot of pressure on him & made a lot of NFL players pi**** & motivated to beat the cowboys. AN example is the Lion receiver after scoring a touchdown he threw the football at a cowboy star & knocked it off the wall.

"Over it?" When you've been a Cowboys' fan as long as I have, we'll talk.
And "the Jimmy" put together, in three seasons, a team that without the salary cap would STILL be winning championships.

I am a Colts fan and hey at least they are consistent. It seems every year I can count on them falling apart at the end of the season. I do remain optimistic that this could be our year.
The biggest reason why I like the Colts is the character of the team from the owner to the coaching staff and the entire team. They really are a good bunch of men. I know Jimmy Irsay has had his problems in the past but he has turned his life around too.
So, remain hopeful for your Cowboys.

Perhaps. I do think Romo is "the real deal." Most of the supposed experts think so too. "Jaws" said that despite some recent down games, Romo is "all-pro" material; Madden said repeatedly that Dallas doesn't give him enough help.
If you put Romo behind San Diego's line, he might not have the same passing and TD numbers, but he would be absolutely unstoppable, even better than Rivers, I think.

Nope, ESPN works for the NFL. Roma at least for now is ALL HYPE generated by the NFL Marketing Dept.

My son and a couple of friends came to see Aikman/Irvin/Smith play the Colts a few years ago when James/Manning/Harrison were the "new triplets." Indy beat Dallas in that game, and pretty much signaled the end of the old Dallas greats.
We came back a couple of years later with the Quincy Carter Cowboys, and you destroyed us then, too.
You are right about Indy's class. However, I think in Dungy's case, he truly is bridesmaid material, and will not win. I think the current group has already missed their window of opportunity, and the D is looking worse every year, despite the sack monster Freeny.

Ah, I think Romo is cute! Here is the deal, Romo isn't the problem and doesn't deserve the blame. The defense of the Cowboys stinks and can't prevent anything!

My point again, is that by the NFL marketing him their "Golden Boy" has Pissed other NFL players off & thus motivated them to Get them Cowboys. The Lions for a 2-13 playing their last game were REAL fired up to beat them BOYS.

Well, I wouldn't get too excited about a team which has had THREE of its last FOUR #1 picks---all incredibly high---as wide receivers who don't play much. Roy Williams is the only reliable one of them. Then there was the other #1, Harrington (a bust). Course, Detroit will get to squander yet ANOTHER high pick, the #2 in the overall draft, this year. Lessee, Pauley Shore?

You put way too much emphasis on motivation. The fact is, Dallas's D sucked since Greg Ellis went down---and he was only keeping it respectable, not great. The O-line is lame, and the running game non-existent.
Sean Payton out-game-planned Parcells. Motivation had little to do with it.

I have been, so let's talk.
Jimmy was great for those 3 years, but that's been his history: 3 and out. He always wears out his welcome.
And I think he's happier blowharding on TV than doing the work of coaching.
Still, Bill has made some real blunders and I would be amenable to someone new.
(In fact, I've been a Cowboy fan longer than you have)

Romo's offense scored 31 points. That should have been enough, and don't even try to tell me that it was his fault that the other team scored 17 points.
It may have been, but don't try to tell me.

My two favorite teams are the SF 49ers and whatever team is playing the Cowboys. :D
Go Seattle!
And they ain't America's team. Not by a long shot. Colombia's team, maybe. . .

I second it. What pissed me off is when the Saints & Eagles were handing them their b**** Madden & Fox Sports were spinning as if the Cowboys were the ones handing them their ba***.

Hard to be a fan longer than 1963.
And if Jimmy wears out his welcome, well, he's been gone long enough he can start a new welcome.

I think it'll be Fred Farkle..he's a 2nd string tackle at a division 3 school, but millen thinks he has good potential..(sarc/off)
I honestly don't know how he's holding onto his job..

Hard, but do-able. What was the extent of your fandom?
Do you have autographs from every member of the Don Meredith led team?
Did you go to the shows they had where the guys spoke and Don Meredith got so upset he had to leave and Bob Lilly had to cover for him?

I could be wrong, but they were named "America's Team" because , at the time, they sold the most clothing with their logo attached...which is not so now...therefore, they are not "America's Team"...no?

Refresh my memory. When was the last time a Dallas Cowboys player had a drug problem resulting in massive media coverage? Or are you going on old news and hatred toward America's Team?

No, they were "America's Team" because for years, whatever NFL logo stuff was sold, Dallas outsold almost everyone else combined. It hasn't been that way since the late 1980s, though, and certainly since it hasn't been "hip" to like the (supposedly) squeaky-clean Cowboys. Instead, it's the Raiders and Steelers.

It doesn't matter, does it? That well-deserved reputation is pretty much permanent.
Or are you going on old news and hatred toward America's Team?
Hatred, not really - it's not worth it. Strong dislike? Certainly. Old news? Again, it doesn't matter. They got the reputation they deserved. If the new players are all that different then they'll have to earn their own rep... if they can overcome the old one.
Meanwhile, I look forward to watching them back out of the playoffs that they backed into. . . :)
