This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
There's some cool pictures on that site. Thanks!
Where in Houston? North, South etc
Welcome:)
Becky
It's very over cast here today, and somewhat chilly. I'm playing with JP today, and we are only staying outside for short periods. He's napping right now.
Next weeks forecast looks good for the start of the week. Celia is on vacation so we hope to get a good start on conditioning horses.
Becky
Well hopefully you'll be able to get a good week in. I'm planning on riding tomorrow at the rails-to-trails. That should be a good easy 15 miles, if we ride the whole thing end-to-end and back. And since it's been raining so much here lately, it'll be doubly good because it has a good hard crusher-run road base. Everywhere else will be a mud bog. I haven't decided who I'll ride yet. I rode Bob last, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and I think I rode Grace before that, but I couldn't tell you when that was. So I guess I'll ride Hope this time. I think the last time I rode her was back in late September. I've got too many horses!
The times i've had more then one horse, I always had trouble decideing which to ride because I always liked one more then the other(s). Lots of times when I knew I should be riding one of the others, I's land up not riding at all...like that makes a lot of sense:)
Took me years but I finally figured out I'm a one horse rider:)

If the link doesn't take you right to the picture, it's ad #089764
That is why, I am afraid sometimes, of posting pictures. You never know who is going to steal them.
I will add you to the ping list.
Are you sure that's not one of those virtual horse sites, they pirate pics and "sale" and "show" virtual horses... Just a thought.
Nope, doesn't appear to be a virtual site after I looked. You know, that makes you think that they are going to require a deposit, and then skip with someone's money. You should inquire!
Yep that's Tuffy and I'm spitting nails so to speak :)
Well, she sure picked a pretty horse to pretend to sell, huh? LOL
Shoot, I wouldn't be able to wait until this evening.. set up a free yahoo account and mail the little illiterate horse thief! We all want to know!
If nothing else, they are using a picture I took without my permission. Don't know if that would work or not.
:) Well, she could have asked a little more money I think.
I already have a yahoo account with my name so I don't think I can get another one from the same ISP.
That is so bizarre! And scary too. How did you manage to find it? Were you just scanning horses for sale or what?
No, I got an email from someone inquiring through an ad I have on another site. Really pretty nasty as a matter of fact, asking who really owned this horse since they had seen him at horseville.com. I started to send a nasty email back and then thought maybe I ought to check just in case.
No kidding!! I guess she's figuring that she'll get LOTS of inquiries if she puts him at a low price ...
Well, I sure would like to wring her little neck :)
You've got to wonder what her angle could be. How could someone profit from a scam like this? Surely people don't send money for a horse sight-unseen.
Hi! West, near Katy.
That's what I don't understand. Although 20+ years ago I bought a horse, site unseen. It was from a nationally known breeder though and I had seen pictures of her and her previous foals. (and for a heck of a lot more than that)
I wonder if it's not just some different way of Phishing. How do people figure crap like this out?!
Really bizarre, duchess! What a coincidence that the potential buyer would even have made the connection! and contacted you! All the bad grammar and BS in that ad and the emailer thought maybe ~you~ were the fraud?
It's an obvious fraud, I'd sure report it in a hurry, at least to the site so they can remove all her other ads too, if she has any, but maybe even to law enforcement.
I think this person is hoping they will do just that!
Poor tuffy, she gelded him already.
Which brings up a funny point. She says he's a gelding and then turns around and says he'll throw 100% color.
LOL!! I hadn't even noticed that. So funny!
I just got off the phone with the guy that owns the website. He gave me her email address and the physical address. He said he will pull the ad and email me any information he has in addition on this person so I can contact law enforcement. He was really most gracious and anxious to clear it up so it appears the website is on the up and up anyway.
So the good news is, only a moron would buy a horse from her.
He doesn't look 8 either.
That part is copied and pasted from my original ad. :) Oh, I so want to ring her neck.
That also blows me away. How could anyone look at that picture and see a 8yr old horse that a child could ride?
Just so you know or in case you need it later, I did save the whole page, so in case you need something off of it after he pulls it, it's preserved.
The part about him throwing color or the gelding part?
I mean, I know you don't like the horse much :~)
I don't know. I think he clearly looks juvenile still in the picture, not an 8 year old horse. But there's a lot that doesn't make sense about what she did.
You should post something about this on the horse forum. There's a lot of those folks that look at online ads, some for real money, I guess one shouldn't assume there's real horses behind the ads unless they go look.
I'm going to see if I can find a Hutch Ranch or that address in Ft Pierce or Boca Raton.
I thought about posting on horse.com, guess I'll see what I can find out first.
OK - I took a screencap too.
That's great, thanks. I'm frustrated :) There is apparently no 354 Kindle Drive in Ft Pierce, or in Port St Lucie which is where the zip code she gave is. Her email address is hutchranch@aol.com but I can't email her for fear she will recognize me (although she seems pretty stupid)
Well, it's not surprising it might be a completely made up address.
I wouldn't want to risk spooking her too much either.
Any idea what law enforcement agency to report it to?
Could be a coincidence, but I got 3 hits on the name Emily Hutch in the state of Florida .. I'm trying to capture an address .. would be interesting, huh?
No, I can't tell who would cover that area but I'll check at work tomorrow. My niece is going to email her and see if she gets a reply. And I'm thinking that on Momdy our computer person at work can tell me something about how to find out information from the ISP stuff.
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C).
IC3's mission is to serve as a vehicle to receive, develop, and refer criminal complaints regarding the rapidly expanding arena of cyber crime. The IC3 gives the victims of cyber crime a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of suspected criminal or civil violations. For law enforcement and regulatory agencies at the federal, state, local and international level, IC3 provides a central referral mechanism for complaints involving Internet related crimes.
ecurbh can do that if you want to FRMail it to him.
You are outstanding :) That would be great to get a real address. The one she gave the website was 354 Kindle Drive, Ft Pierce Florida but the zip of 34953 is Port St Lucie Florida.
yes, I'll report it to that site and send the info to ecurbh now.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, and anyone have an EBAY account?? There is a person selling stuff to what appears to be horsey people on EBAY .. with the name hutchranch .. still looking...
